Royal london Hospital have treated over 200 people today

They only have 75 patients still in the hospital, 10 of which are in a serious condition and 6 in a critical condition. If you are worried that they are your loved ones do not phone the hospital. Phone everyone you know first to be sure that your loved one is still missing if you still do not find them phone this number 0870 1566 344. DO NOT PHONE THIS NUMBER UNLESS YOU HAVE TO!

Well, like about fifty billion other people I just watched a news conference with London Underground and Police spokespeople, who seemed very professional and impressive I must say. The overall picture seemed to be:
*Emergency plans went into place quickly and effectively
*minimal people hurt considering potential eg no fires or people trapped underground for long... they moved people to platforms and evacuated as soon as they could.. people weren't having to walk along tracks and all that.
*people 'stayed calm and followed orders' Very British! After all, there have been bombs etc in London for decades, with IRA and all.
*Transport won't really kick off much tonight...hope to get most 'business as usual' back by tomorrow... but they did say that of course they don;t know if it's over yet, if more things will happen etc.

I'm signing off as updater now as I'm guessing most people are on their way home and can watch the news for themselves.

It's been a very sad day. To all those who have lost a love one my sympathies go out to you. To all those injured, I send healing vibes. To all those that are feeling shocked and stressed by the events I offer you an ear to listen.

My only request of everyone out there is don't let your anger and fear cloud your judgement. There is lots of talk about who commited this terrible act. Don't let all the rumours and speculation make you turn against your neighbours because of their beliefs. After 9/11 some terrible things happened. Innocent people were attact and or killed basically because of the fear that filled people after it terrible day.

I heard something about a large majority of the 1500 metropolitan police who are in Edinborough with respect to the G8 sumit are being re-deployed to London.
Can we expect an attempt to attack the G8 Ministers?

That's false, they answered that at the press conference. London has 31,000 officers there, more then enough they claimed. G8 will be fine.

Hi guys

hug

So glad to hear the news of so many Hoppers safe & well.

I have family in the UK, but I suspect I won't find out until tomorrow any news with regards to their whereabouts.

Take care all

The press conference police spokesmen said that they felt that the officers they had on duty, as well as Transport police, were adequate to deal with what happened. Overall, they evacuated people quickly and not really so many people were injured/ affected directly. There isn't big piles of twisted wreckage all over London or anything. They also said that they needed to maintain their organisational 'resilience' in case anything further should happen.
Remember that London is in a way 'used to' bombs and so on. Eg just in the last year I was there (1992) there was a lot of IRA activity. This has been going on for years and 'they' know this sort of thing is likely to happen sooner or later.

I'm not minimsing how awful it is for people, just saying that these very professional officials don't seem to over-react....

I was in total shock when I woke up and heard about this. My mind kept on flashing with the film clips of 911, I woke up one morning to hear that on the news too.

I'm glad to hear that so many London HoPpers are accounted for. My prayers for everyone effected by this tragedy, directly or indirectly.

I don't know what on earth I've been up to, but I only just heard the news. Getting up to date via video streaming, photos and reports on bbc online, and it looks horrific.

My heart goes our UK counterparts, and those in London especially. One of my best mates recently left London for the states, but I can't help thinking how close to home it's hit.

Going back to the news now, hoping that things settle. Please take care and be safe, all of you.

My mum flew back to the UK yesterday. I can't seem to contact her- logic tells me she should have arrived before the chaos, but I'm still a bit worried. She was going back to Devon- I didn't ask but I'm hoping she went via Bristol and not Heathrow.

I've been following this News all day and I suppose for the most part I was really just relaying the news without thinking so hard about it.

I've just been sitting down and thinking about what this all means. The main thought that has struck me is that now they are saying over 700 people were injured but the fatality numbers that are reported so far at 37. I'm kind of amazed that it was such a low percentage of the whole number injured. I know that one death is one too many but I just think that it could have all been so much worse. If fires had caught hold in the tube tunnels so many more could have died. I know for the families of those that have died that is no comfort, but for someone on the outside looking in I can see how much worse it all could have been. Tube trains at that time of day are packed full.

It has also reinforced in me the sense that my life is precious to me and that I can never know when or where my life will end. It's reinforced in me the feeling that I MUST make the most of everyday I get. Whether I choose to spend my life being happy and spreading that happiness to others or spend it being sad and grumpy about everything and bringing everyone around me down isn't going to make an iota’s worth of difference to the grand scheme of the world for in truth I am just small organisms passing through, but it will make a difference to how much I enjoy the time I have.

Just talked to my stepdad, things are fine.. mum's just gone out so didn't get to speak to her. Did hear though, that his nephew was actually on the train just behind the one that got bombed. Talk about close call..

To me, as a New Yorker, although I wasn't here in 2001, it reinforces to me the importance of living life, moving on, and standing tall. We have to show these bastards that WE ARE NOT AFRAID!

We will not strike out blindly in revenge, but we will also not pull into our shells and live in fear. We will be alert, we will be prepared, and we will move on.

I have no need to ride the subway in the next couple of days, but on Saturday you bet I'll be riding those trains, head high and eyes out for anything amiss.

I'm going to work now. My heart and mind is with you all, Londoners. grouphug

... Finally managed to get home after finding a train...amazed by people winging about how packed it was - felt like shouting at least you're alive you selfish bas*ard! but didn't just got off a stop early and walked the rest of the way.

How can people be like that?
