My little Brother and I are driving across Canada, mid August - Mid September. I will be stopping to teach workshops and/spin fire anywhere that I'm wanted. Currently confirmed: Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and PEI. Hopefully we'll fill in the blanks rolleyes

It started like this: my little brother was going to drive to Halifax from Vancouver to visit our family, and he said to me, "you have to come, we may never get another chance to drive across the country together."

I couldn't deny his logic, and since I'd already been emailing with somebody in Montreal for months about teaching my scales-of-poi workshops I figured, heck, why not launch a GREAT CANADIAN POI TOUR ADVENTURE?

So, anybody want to help organize workshops? Just email me at nickATplaypoi.com. I can also bring cool poi gear. And we'll make a movie of the whole thing and you and your town/village/city can be part of it. You'll be famous!

If you're wondering who the heck I am anyway, I invite you to visit www.playpoi.com and check out the videos and photos, or theveue.org to find out about all my other artistic exploits.

Swoosh,

Hmmm... I'll be as close as Salt Spring Island a couple times. I could be convinced! But maybe not with my little brother. The Beacon Hill Park jams are Sundays, yes?

i do believe sunday is fire day in victoria. but i can't be sure as i don't live there at the minute....i'm a londoner, i emailed you about a retreat as i'm home for august....

anyhoo, i've heard the scene is really good and loyal. but salt spring is great fun too! i had a seriously joyous poi day there last summer. my friend has contacts with a marimba band on the island...a musical/poi jam could be arranged...

That can probably be arranged. It looks like I'm doing workshops in both Toronto and Montreal, so take your pick. smile

I think I'll be in Montreal for a little longer. And I have more extracurricular activities there.

I guess this spot is a better angle huh Nick?

Greetings poi-friends!!
The original message debuted at the "Introduction" part of this forum, but I guess (thank's Meenik) that putting it here will work better.

I'm hosting poi retreats for Nick (AKA Meenik) in Montreal!
We've been emailing for months, and I was supposed to head over to Vancouver for a poi retreat at his studio, but then I couldn't make it happen
However, Nick's Great Canadian Poi Adventure will be making it to Montreal!
ye!
So who's in for a friendly gathering of incredible poi experience?
Stay in touch, let this thread grow, write me, and he should be arriving in end of August, beginning of September.
I really think we should make a sweet group by the time he arrives and all greet him with hugs hugs hugs. He's coming a long way.

May the weaving begin,
SukoOn.

I bailed on Pakistan. It was just too much to take on. I was already getting ready for the final round of filming, moving out of the studio, moving out of my home, and organizing the tour. Also, they couldn't give me any references... and when I really checked in with myself, I felt like it was a bad idea for me to go. I've done wilder things, but I'm pretty vulnerable right now.

I'm in contact with the person who did go though. So far it's ok but she's pretty confined to her hotel quarters for security reasons. I'm looking forward to the full report. smile

But back to the tour: Yes, new dates are posted on playpoi.com/touringpoiworkshops.htm. I leave this thursday.

Montreal's dates are as follow:

September 30th at the Centre de Tai Chi Chuan at the train station Roxboro Pierrefond.

We will be meeting at the train station downtown (metro Bonaventure) to hop on our ride at 4:50pm.

We reach the center at 5:20 and will stay there till sun sets so Nick will give us a little fire show as an appetizer for the two following days of Workshop downtown.

This "demo-workshop" will be on donation to the Tai Chi Chuan Center ($5.00 or more if you're feeling generous).

Then the 1st and 2nd of October will take place at La Caserne on Ontario street, right outside Frontenac Metro; from 1 to 3 pm.

(Exact address just came in: 2633 Ontario Est) rolleyes

$35.00 for one day and $60.00 for both.

The weather looks like no rain so we will most probably head out to Park Lafontaine after we're done with the indoors and pursue our workshop outside in open air.

For reservation or more info, dial (514) 802 - 4552 .

I just found out about the Toronto workshops this morning when I got out of work and really want to attend. I messaged ImmortalAngel about it but was wondering if someone might have a place to put me up for a night between workshops. I'm putting my paycheck into this so a hotel is asking alot. It doesn't really matter though I can always sleep in the car. Hope to see some of ya there.

Hey Rovo, I already emailed you about it, also, I have another guy coming up from NY, a town called Bativa or some such? How close are you guys etc? If you two can carpool up here, he can save money on the bus, and you can save money on gas (considering how expensive it is, it's not a bad idea). I'll get you in touch with him via email. It's so nice to see interest from all sides of the border smile
ALSO,
For the toronto workshop, if anyone wants to come back to my house on the saturday night, I'm gonna see if we can go to a local park (not hard considering I have half a dozen nicely sized parks within a 5 minute walk in any direction), and have a spin session.
If you're interested in coming my mailing address is on the Meet Others directory, or you can contact me in PM or email wink
Cheers
