I love my hoops as much as I love poi and staff and I noticed there was a few other hooping hoppers out there. So I thought HOP needed a hooping thread for us to chat about tricks and share our love for hoops. ubblove
I have been hooping for quite awhile now and have mastered quite a few tricks but I still havn't figured how to flick it up off the ground and move it up my legs. I can get it from my knees up but I saw this chic at the a circus and she had the hoops all on the ground and was bringing them up her legs one by one. It looked awesome.
I've got an idea of what I gotta do but havn't quite got it. I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on this?
Thanks

Me too NYC. I have no indoor space to practice in.

I do, however, have 30 odd hoops bagged up under my stairs ready to sell. Maybe you can cheer, and I'll just become a pusher of the love of the wiggle. A bit like a drug dealer but with less harmful consequenses ubblol Will you be wearing the leotard and short skirt whilst you are cheerleading?

Nice Vid Jane. Thank you for sharing it hug

Hooping from a distance looks funny when you cant see the hoops.

I can get a pic of that many hoops for you if you wish. I'll have to borrow a camera from one of my nieces first though. Give me a couple of days.

I did have the tubing delivered. I buy it off the net ubblol I have no idea yet how I'm going to transport that many hoops to anywhere to sell them, seeing as I can't drive ubblol I might have to bribe my sister-in-law to drive them to the nearer fetés and festivals in her LandRover.

I do weigh more than a hoop, unless you have an 8 stone hoop ubblol I'd like to see someone try wiggling a hoop that heavy. Imagine how big the bruise on your hip would be if you did! eek

The most hoops I've ever taken at one time on public transport was when I went to Bristol for the Juggling convention.... I think it was about 10. I forget. It might have been more.

Once the connectors I've ordered turn up I can make some furry covered ones. YAY for the love of the wiggle!

I just put layers of gaffer tape on them before putting the fur fabric on. It's suprising how much weight it adds. I am going to try expanding foam too.... you know, the kind bad builders use to fill holes with. I'm not sure how much heavier that will make them though.

I know the first few furry hoops I made that I didn't weight are a bit hard to control. I'm still working on the perfect solution. The larger 32mm tube is much heavier but getting connectors for it has proved a nightmare and I still haven't found a good supplier.

I went to hoop class last night and I learned a whole bunch like I learned how to change planes from horizontal on my waist to vertical on my waist (by leaning forward) and then when you get it up above your head it's really out in front of you so you're vertical and you can do poi/staff stuff and then put it back over your head and it's still vertical because you're still leaning forward and I learned to do a spin and I learned how to hoop with my arms in the hoop sort of but I'm not good yet but I understand it but I can't do it pretty.

It was fun. biggrin

I just got forwarded this email that may be of interest to you UK hoopers....

Written by: Annette Gliwa jugglingflapper@yahoo.co.uk

HI All,
I have been approached several times to do a workshop for Hula hooping- so here it is!
It probably is going to be a two day one in Bristol- accommodation to be sorted out privatly. Possible split into two skill levels: beginners and intermediate or intermediate and advanced depending who is interested in coming. Contents would be: Kick ups, body isolation, splitting 2 -5 hoops, arm hooping, throws and more
So if you could please spread the news and pass it onto whoever might be interested.
We are probably looking at a weekend in March (Not the 4th of March as Peachi is organising the fundango one day Convention there)
So if people are interested contact me via email!
looking forward hearing to you
Annette

I'm defnitly tempted, especially if there's a kind bristol spinner/hooper willing to lend me some floor space for the weekend. I'm completley housetrained ubbangel

If I knew what I was looking for, I would have found it by now, but that would take all the fun out of it. - me
