There are plants, animals, and microorganisms. Everything is one of those three. Insects clearly are not plants or microorganisms, so...

This isn't quite true as there's a lot of stuff that doesn't fit neatly into these boxes, for example fungi. A bit plantish but they don't photosynethise. I'll dig out my A2 biology book and this the 5 kingdoms of organisms if you want but I'm sure someother HoPer will beat me too it.

Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand and I can beat the world into submission.

Took me a while to remember what Smarties were. Anything that comes in tubes is funny. I especially like flesh tubes. Aardvarks and Seahorses have tubes for snouts!

I AM working.

Chemicals are chemicals, whether they're made in a lab or extracted from beetles they're still various atoms arranged in particular ways. Does it really make much difference whether they come from an "organic" soure, like vegitables, an "icky" source, like bugs, or a "clinical" source, like a lab?

Yeah. It does.

Lord knows that beetles are a lot more environmentally friendly than petroleum.

That's turning the usual agrument on it's head and, fair enough, I see your point. What I meant is that it's odd that poeple turn their noses up at this bug-dye because it doesn't come from a "wholesome" and more "normal" source like vegiatble matter or from a lab. Especially when you consider some of these things that we eat that are considered normal. Like cheese. "Oh my God! Look at the milk jug! The milk's so rotten it's gone SOLID! Hmm, where are the crackers?"

Well, insects are a fantastic, low-fat protein source.

I've only ever tried one: a witchetty grub (a little piece of one). Tasted good...but the psychological impact was enough to just let me choke the little piece down just so I could say I'd done it.
