So me and this guy are putting these go go dancers inside of balloons all evening... They're huge 7 foot balloons. I think they might be weather balloons but I'm not sure. Anyway, half way through the evening I'm like... "I wanna get in the balloon!"... and so I do.

And it was THE MOST FUN EVER!

I spun poi inside the balloon for about 10 minutes (there was apparently plenty of air). I CANNOT tell you how much fun it was to be in the balloon. It's like a million degrees and the balloon quickly starts to fog up as sweat is dripping off of you. It's totally intense. Then spinning glowpoi that I got in Scotland (Thank you Molly!) ... the crowd said it looked AWESOME. [Not bragging, I didn't make the glowpoi or the balloon... I just used em]... I wish I could have seen it but I did manage to get some very strange but very cool looking photos. Check out my member gallery....

Here!

The second one is me inside the balloon... scantily clad and in partial makeup... the rest are blurry and artistic cuz they're time lapse.

If you ever have a chance to go in a balloon... do it. Trust me. And if you can, bring a friend, that was fun too... (no photos of that though...)

Am I the first to poi in a balloon? Does that make me the "International Poi in a Balloon Champion"?

Swweeeeeet! biggrin

I can't seem to enlarge the photos enough to actually see you...there's a balloon, and it looks like there's something, probably a person, inside, but that's all I can see.

Some of the timelapse ones clearly show spinning, and it looks awesome, but I still can't see the person.

Perhaps it was a normal sized balloon and NYC trained a hamster to spin poi and gave it gloves to make the hand prints and... and... and... :flop:

...but Coo!
you really were in a balloon biggrin
but why weren't you spinning plates?
wink

ps. did those go go dancers want to be put in balloons all evening or were you being mean?

Yeah... the originals are better quality.

And yes, it did feel like I was in a large condom.

And no, the go go dancers were done after a few minutes. It's pretty exhausting sweating non-stop. I've honestly never sweat so much in my life. And I'm not a sweaty guy by nature.

I'll see if I can bump up the resolution later... gotta go teach. biggrin

To get in the balloon... it was just inflated with an airpump and then the hole is stretched open and you climb in quick before it deflates. It's tough to get in and it helps having two other people holding the mouth of the balloon open for you. The thing is, as you're getting in, you're blocking the air from escaping too quickly.

It didn't make sense to me either... until I was inside. Well, it still didn't make sense, but at least I believed it was possible. To get out, I just climbed out the hole again (it had been taped shut with electrical tape.) Since the balloons are aparently $15 each we didn't want to pop it every time... though we did pop a few that night. LOUDASS bang too. smile

Oh, and I was really just in an undershirt and boxer briefs. I'm glad I took my own advice for partying...

That's so cool! I had a very similar idea last week. For some strange reason, I subjected myself to watching the MTV Music Video Awards (I don't have cable, so my options were limited. Honest!). One of the presenters rolled over the audience in one of these balloons and I decided that I'm gonna get me some and organise a glow staff/ poi routine on water with 3 balloons...

EDIT: Is there any chance you can find out where they sourced the balloons?

POST-EDIT: Don't worry - I found where I can buy them!

Ah yes... MTV probably has more than $15 to spend on them. smile

It'd be tough to refil them with air (which you need to do every so often so you don't die) if they were out on a lake....

I've found an Austrian site that sells 2m ones for 45 euros. Now, if I could only justify spending AUD$75 on a friken balloon, I'd be laughing!! How do you blow them up? Reverse vacuum cleaner? I reckon that the 2 metre ones would have sufficient air to last for a 10 minute performance on water plus say 2 mins either side for portage etc.... What do you think, science guy?
