man i've had it with this war [censored]!! Oman is supposed to be a safe place but 4 expats got shot today outside the britsh embassy here and in an housing area with lots of western expats. 2 of whom my lil sis knows! theres nothing on the news and we cant get hold of he embassy, so i just wanted to say to everyone stay safe!
i am kacking my pants an wanna get on the first flight home but thats just panic i hope! dammit why cant we get hold of the right people when you need to!!!

well, the good news is that there are probably no large scale attacks planned in Oman if someone is going around shooting at foreigners. It's when it is quiet and peacful for a while that you have to get worried. terrorist attacks are about suprise - you don't want to get peoples gaurds up just before you attack.
kind of a grim way to look at it I know, but I'm assuming you can see the logic in it and that it might make you feel a bit more comfortable. Not that you are going to feel safe again after people you indirectly knew were shot out of the blue....
why are you there - staying with someone working there (since I see you claim to be jobless scum)?

phew! false alarm..ish! apparently its a sniper and only 2 people have been confermed as shot, one yesterday and one today. seems to be no link at the moment to terrorists
just some psycho idiot!!

I have to say that the barbaric concept of a public hanging (and the people who'd turn up to watch) is much more "eek!" inducing to me than the actual thing that made you say "eek" in the first place.
