Ok, not sure if any of you have heard about this, but one of my good friends from school has gone missing here in NZ, it's been all over the news. Emma was completely deaf and a leading member in the deaf community in NZ, as the national sports administrator for the Deaf Sports Federation for the last 6 months, and has a part time job as an administrator of the Deaf Society Story here.

Emma was an amazing person and has been missing now for over a week with no clues as to where she might be, none of her belongings have been found except for her car which she was trying to sell when she went missing, and was burnt out when it was found.

Thinking of you Emma, here's hoping you're ok.

I met a friend once who was legally dead after he left his home on short notice (failing to allert anyone of his sudden travel plans or even stop his paper) right before his house was washed out in a mudslide (as in missed it by a day). He found out that he had been declared dead after recieving a call about his obituary while sitting with friends, joking and having a Killians.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, her family and friends, and Emma that she is fine, with friends, and will be laughing about this in a few months time, just like my friend.

The search has ended, I have just learnt that the police have found a body believed to be Emma and arrested a man in relation to her murder. But no reason as to why he was officialy arrested, just that there was already a warrant for his arrest.

Thoughts to her family and all involved in this horrible time. I don't know what else to say.

So sorry. My "missing friend" story wound up with her found having hanged herself from a tree. It was awful, so I feel your pain.

Hey Si - really sorry to hear the news and didn't realise you knew her.

On top of the pain/anger of the senseless loss of life, my heart sunk when I saw that they'd arrested the guy from the housing units which used to be my old AirForce accomodation. It really made me angry to think that a murderer was living where me and my mates used to...

(Oh, and they said yesterday that he'd been arrested and charged with her murder mate)

In further news, the laywer for the man accused of murdering Emma is saying that there cannot be a fair trial, meaning that Liam Reid (the accused murderer) may be able to walk free. I feel that if that happens, I really feel sorry for her family, knowing that the man her murdered their daughter will still be out on the streets, able to carry out a normal lifestyle (albeit one of persecution and prejudice) while they will still be suffering.

Thats just so wrong. That we all care so much it cant be fair.
Surely then there can be a judgement by a panel of Judges or something else. .

I highly doubt that he'll just walk free without a trial based solely on his lawyer's posturing.

No, you're right, I was rather tired when I wrote that and not thinking clearly. There's another case connected to him that was also high profile, so at the moment the trial is being suspended until next year sometime
