Hello, hello and welcome to the all-new, shiny thread for fire dancers, spinners, object manipulators, drummers, musicians and anyone else interested in these arts anywhere in Ireland.

Our community started coming together a few years ago, and it's grown to include people from all over the country...

If you are new to poi or staff or spinning stuff and want to meet up with any of the Irish spinners, please post in this thread, introduce yourself and feel free to come along to the workshops, gatherings or events that get talked about.

Also, if you'd like to be on my mailing list for fire gatherings and other juggling events, please PM me your email address and I'll add it. The fire gathering takes place fortnightly in Belfast, but it's one way to keep in touch with everyone.

So welcome, and hope to see you soon wave

Hi all,

I live in Cork, just looking for some fellow spinners who would want to meet up sometimes to share some moves and to have a fun.

Keep spinning...

Hey vlastenka, info about places to meet are on the first page of this thread. Although I'd be careful about meeting cork spinners, they have beady eyes and cruel ideas about carrots and pigeons tongue

And yeah Splinty, this thread is very quiet lately.

Hands up who's going to Pendulum this Saturday. I'm uber excited (fireblitz wiggles with excitement) bounce2 bounce2 bounce2 bounce

Hey Splinty,

Pendulum is on Saturday 3rd of November in Tivoli Theatre. It's gonna be awesome. Loads of juggly people going. It's €30 a ticket, I bought my ticket in City Disks, I'm not sure but I'd say you can get a ticket at the door. You should go if you can and come over and say wavehello. Haven't seen you around in ages.

if there are any random stray spinners about anywhere near dublin/meath this saturday, please try make your way out to the hill of tara for samhain festivities: https://www.tarapixie.net/

there'll be lots of musicians, poets, etc and a torchlit procession at 6pm so all spinny juggly types will be most welcome to light up the hill. bring food, warm clothes & good vibes

Hello hello everyone smile

Most people will already know about this from my fortnightly mail out, or from emerald circus, but in case you didn't see it...

I'm holding another U'Belfast poi/staff workshop in December (15/16)...

Details here:

Heheheheheheheh. This one should be good smile

Sat Dec 15th:

Masterclass Staff workshop...

The class will be taken by Meg (Scottish staffing legend) and Rob (general leg end). It will run from 5-10pm in Paton Halls (Malone Road), Belfast.

The tutors will teach basic to advanced staffing skills (depending on your level), body movement and routine building...

Then, at 9.30/10pm, we all move to the main hall... where we have the keys to the building for the rest of the night!! biggrin

Yep, this means that all poi and staff people can come down and take advantage of a really big hall, some really good teachers and a great night... (unfortunately, we can't sleep in it, but we can be there until you get bored and want to go home).

The only thing asked is that the hall is given back in the same state we got it... so please, tidy up after you. More details will follow in future emails to those attending smile

Sunday Dec 16th:

Masterclass Poi Workshop...

This class will also be taught by Rob and Meg, and will focus on much of the same things as the staff class (moves, movements, routine building)... However, it will be held in the SouthBank centre, just off the Ormeau Road. The times will probably be 11-4pm (or possibly 12-5).

I've listed the people I think are coming below... if your name isn't on the list, and you want to go, please let me know asap.

(If your name is on the list, and you don't want to go, please tell me that too.)

For those travelling great distances, accomodation is very limited at this stage... so let me know asap, but I can't promise anything smile

The class will cost £20. Everyone who pays is welcome to both classes, so you can advance both skills!

Masterclass poiple and staffers:

Alana

Lisa

Peter B

Darren McL

Dale M

Emilie L

Aoife L

Emma O'F

Cameron M

Tamar

Ronan McG

Nicole S

Sorca O'B

Christina V

Jodie

Jill P

Ruth D

Jean (from Dublin)

Majella

Duncan N

Mark P (sorrys!)

Gareth

Ingrid

Thanks!!
