so i did a search and couldnt find anything, was just curious as to what women thought about this topic, if your partner asked you what your thoughts on the topic where/if you would consider getting them how would you take this?

Personally i dont have any qualms with plastic surgery and anticipate getting it myself when i get older, for me personally i view the idea of having it done much the same as getting a hair cut (yes i realise there are risks involved as there is to varying degrees with everything in life).

so was just curious as to what reactions ppl have to the idea, how much is your self esteem tied into your body image and would the above question upset you?

I don't think you can compare surgery to something non-invasive. For technical reasons, if nothing else.

I'd have plastic surgery if I was really really unhappy with my body. But I'm not.

The only thing I don't get is why girls with perfectly nice breasts think they have to get an operation done cause bigger MUST be better. Of course, subjectively speaking, there's always going to be someone who thinks your body is pretty or is really ugly, but why so many people are just not happy with the way they look escapes me.

Well, when I was still at High School I thought bigger boobs would be cool and quite a few of my friends wanted implants... one of my friends when we were 16 got all excited cos her mum said she'd pay for her to have a boob job on her 18th birthday, which I found a bit eek

Now though, I'm quite happy just the way I am, so is my boyfriend and my family. My mum has always tried to tell me and my sis to be happy with ourselves the way God made us, as part of the beauty of life is that everyone is different.

I don't mind having a small chest, at least it won't be in a hurry to head south when I'm older. Plus all the things that can go wrong look nasty, the scarring, risks involved in general anaesthetic etc, and you'd have to get surgery every 10 years or so at least once it's done. I agree with Durbs, most peole I've known who've had cosmetic surgery seem to get hooked into it and seem even less satisfied with their bodies, always looking for other things they can 'improve' about their phisique.

It's personal choice, I think it's sad that some people feel so miserable about how they look or how others see them that they take quite drastic measures like surgery, but then if they're really that unhappy about the way they look then they're entitled to do something about it.

For me though, happiness will always come from the inside and I don't give a damn if other people think my breasts are inadequate. If it made me miserable, then I might have surgery, but it just doesn't bother me at all any more. Just my 2cents. smile

i can see ppl taking offense to the way you phrased it, past experience has taught me that minor twists of words can quickly cause a topic to become unnecessarily heated and emotional.

to me the concept of having plastic surgery isnt a big thing, to alot of ppl it is, im quite aware that my perception of the world is different to most, was just curious as to how others saw it, i asked my girlfriend what her thoughts where about it the other day and got a delayed (2 days) hostile response. I was just curious as to what sort of reactions other ppl have to it.

ubblol

It may not really be funny. But it made me laugh. ubblol

Boob jobs often look weird. I assume they feel weird. I assume also that if you spend enough money they will look fairly natural. I wouldnt have one but I wouldnt venture into the mind of a girl to try to understand why she feels she needs one either. Coz im a boy.. like wink

Conversly. Boob reductions? I know more than one person that has had there quality of life vastly improved by this.

Ravehead, can you remove that picture? Or resize it so we all dont have to scroll left and right to read the posts.... See what happens when you give a thread a boob job.

On a positive note. I think boobs are wonderfull.

But plastic surgery is a topic one (male) should NEVER EVER raise to his girlriend... guess you had to learn the hard way... ubblol

@Birgit: could you PM me that link, please? I'd like to test my talent, too... wink

However I once had the opportunity to get some "hands on" experience and (I guess if done right) it doesn't feel strange - just inadequate maybe. I have no clue why girls have to massively enlarge their "cushions", personally I would even get scared as of a certain extent. Size doesn't matter (to me) - it clearly is more in shape and proportion to the rest of the body.

Sad that those who have too much can't level it out with those who (think they) have less - but maybe the grass is always greener... shrug

i disagree i think if you have a healthy relationship and you are both happy in yourselves you should be able to raise any topic with a partner, i think its when your unable to express something to a partner for fear of their response thats when theres a problem, if theres a negative response its simply an underlying block thats yet to be resolved.

if my girlfriend said she would like me to get butt implants id probably laugh think about it for a minute then decide it wasnt something i needed done and that would be the end of it, no negative response because i dont have any underlying insecurities/blocks about how my bum looks

Breast removals for guys with Gynecomastia, like me? Seriously considering, especially as I only have one very small boob, it's not particularly visible through clothing unless it's tight (unfortunately that'd be most of my t-shirts) I used to be proud of my body more than I am now. Most people don't notice, but I feel uncomfortable with it. Surgery seems the only surefire option...

Seriously, I think the expendeture of resources on such things is absurd. It would be so much more effective, and graceful, to just change your mind than surgically change your body.

Lip balm I will happily use if it has spf and helps dry cracked lips. I dont use all the time but its helpful.

As for breast implants I dont need em. Quite happily sized. As for those who really feel like they have to get a boob job then fair do's I'd just be afraid for what would happen if you'd pop. (Not a nipslip reference)
Its your own body at the end of the day. If you happen to be triple A flat as hell then I can understand a need for it. Just please dont go Lolo Ferrari on yourself. As prooved big boobs are dangerous.
Well sized women will inform you that sports can be face threatening aswell as a strain on your back.

Breast implants need serious consideration.

TBH I think that women who get them (view before and after pics) looked ok before hand and it wasnt really needed. Well supported bras can make such a difference and if you happen to be skint get the gel ones or chicken fillets.

Personality not boob size counts. smile

my boobs are pretty small really, but they're in proportion to my body, as are most girls'.

I don't find fake boobs particularly unattractive to look at, but i don't like the way they move when you're rollin round with someone biggrin

basically, if a girl had implants it would seriously put me off. i guess unless they had serious medical or self esteem issues.

well, no even then...i'm not interested in girls with self esteem issues! people should learn to love their bodies, warts & all. some of the girls i've gone for are definately NOT pretty or traditionally nicely shaped and one of the things i had a hard time getting over to one girl in particular was that i didn't find her attractive DESPITE her body, but BECAUSE of it. girls are weird ubblol

anyway, self confidence is attractive, and i guess if you're confidence comes because of your fake boos then so be it. you can just go be confident at someone else!

Ive always liked the idea of sugery but mostly as an alternative to actaully doing something. Like excercise to lose weight, or dieting or pelvic floor excercises. As long as I dont need a GA and dont have to be awake to see the liposuction. Thats ewwww.

Personally I think many boob jobs just look ridiculous.
And it does seem that a large percentage of people who get them done do go from already quite sizeable to mammoth, purely for... for what? To make them feel better about themselves? Come on, really. Its about drawing attention from the opposite sex. Which, I guess, does make them feel better about themselves. And if thats what you need to feel special, then your boob size is the least of your problems.

And how DO they look in twenty, thirty, years time.... Doesn't seem promising to me! Consider all the sagging that will inevitably happen, and the tissue loosening and supporting the implant less, looking more and more like... well, like my sock poi!

People who get them done for other reasons, medical, or for the extremely flat chested, or too even up serious lopsidedness, well that's reasonable. I have a good friend who got hers done - her chest was so flat that bras were purely for decoration - and she loves them, although she did go a little too big. And they just feel WRONG! They are way too bouncy, and springy, and just, rubbery really. Yukky.

Me, even though I am not particularly buxom, I wouldn't do it. I am happy in my skin. As Tao star said, its all about proportion. I think small boobs on small body look much hotter than oversized fake boobs on the same sized body.
And natural looks better any day.

If she now feels better about herself, then who are you to critise? If she wants to spend "2 million" on making herself look like a 'cat' (and I use that term loosely), then she is more than welcome to.

You may not like it, and you would be with the other 99% of the world (including myself), but as long as she is happy, then I believe she is entitled to have as much surgery as she wants.

More commonly known as 'The Bride of Wildenstein'.

Non-Https Image Link

I first heard about her when she was in the news suing her husband for 'Psychological Abuse' for withholding money for her to have more surgery done. Now this might seem irrational and absurb for a woman to make such a claim and think 'what a cow!'. But having dealt with my own bout of body dysmorphia (though nowhere near the extremes of Mrs Wildenstein) I can understand the irrationality and mindset of such a person. For me, I became anxious if I ate more than the recommended daily calorie intake or missed a gym session. Ironically or fittingly, such anxiety led to me becoming more of a comfort-eater and I gained more weight than I did when I went off on my 'health kick'. I lost the excess weight without trying and stopped caring (as much) and got on with my life and as a result much happier, though i still have my moments (but don't we all?).

It really does sadden me that people go to such lengths to achieve beauty. In that they grew up believing you are less than human if you didn't look a certain way. I think that everyone in their lives think like this.

Fortunately most of us grow out of this and find that personality is far more important and that people will love and accept them regardless of the way they look. The surgery addicts I do feel sorry for in that it appears that they have not received such validation in their lives...

I don't like the idea of it but if surgery really does make a difference to people's self esteem then so long as they don't treat those that aren't 'perfect' as beneath them I'm all for it...
