Do you fire-eat or fire-breathe and live in the UK?
I've been a fire-eater/breather for 11 years and am looking for other dragon-like spinners in the UK to meet up with, and share information (or stories!) with.
If there are any of you in the Wiltshire/Somerset area I am really interested in getting together for the possibility of local shows.
Please PM me!!!
I'm very lonely, whereever I travel I meet more and more newbie spinners but very, very few that can show me new moves and even less who are eater/breathers!!

Which is why I come to talk about it at a sensible place like this.
I'm not encouraging the hobby, or downplaying the risk involved (which is tremendous)
In fact for several years I stopped performing, and rarely do so now, only as a grand finale and only if the conditions are perfect.
However, that doesn't stop the fact that I'd like to meet people in the same position as me, who already practice the technique and would like to talk to someone in the vicinity who also does.
Which is why I come to talk about it at a sensible place like this.

I'd really like to speak to other fire eaters about what material they use for their wands.
I need to make some new wands, as mine seem to have vanished, and looking at photos, everybody elses seem to look different to mine.
I use: Copper or brass rod, with cotton strips wound tightly with cotton thread and soaked in lighter fluid. Any comments Pleas?!!!

u could look at the photos hem pm the owners?
there are a few of them around, but they may not bother to look in this part of the boards so go exploring with a search or 3

i also use copper rods for wands but i wrap staff/poi wick material in place and either fasten with jubilee clips, kinda like brackets, or drill and bolt them- stylish tennis grip handle....hehe.....keep up the good work !!

Hey i do fire eating ,I also do Kaphyr aswell.
For my wands I used 1.3mm steel garden wire, with Kevlar wicking for the heads.
wrapped it round the top of the wire once then looped the wire over it.
Then wound the wicking around the outside of the wire to make sure all of the metal was covered.
Then using a few threads i pulled loose from the Kevlar wicking, sewed it to gether to make sure it didnt unwind.
My friend who has been doing fire eating etc. for years makes them that way aswell,and says they last for ages.

my fire torches are more primitive in nature, ive used some form of laquered hardwoord for the stem the end is the wrapped in
1: heat shield tape
2: fire blanket
3: kevvlar sheet, originally for engine lagging for race cars.
with normal parrafin i usually get a burn time of around 10 minutes
