Posted: Hi. I'm a beginner staff spinner, and am making fire staffs. I have a question regarding spinning off bucket, and how to do this with a staff??? I've seen people shake the excess fuel off but that's not the best for the environment. Any suggestions???

Posted: Hello and welcome to HOP If you buy anything from the HOP shop you can get a free Backyard spinners DVD which gives good tips to beginners. What they say is when you have poured fuel over the wick at one end you should carefully wrap the wick in an old towel and give it a few squeezes this is called blotching and will remove some of the excess fuel then turn the staff around to put fuel over your other wick keeping the towel around the 1st wick to stop any excess fuel from running down the staff. You then pour your fuel onto wick 2 and then with a towel do the same as you did before. This will be a lot better for the enviroment as your not spreading fuel around.Oh! and don't forget to have a saftey person standing by with a fire blanket or extinguisher incase anything goes wrong. Hope this helps.Good luck
