I've searched the site and nothing's come up...

has anyone tried making a single heavyweight fire chain using kevlar rope? You could interweave the rope through the chain links and attach a wooden handle to one side.

Just wondering if anyone has tried it and been successful.

a.k.a rope dart [Old link] (similar but not exactly the same)

biggrin

Or maybe fire whip

[Old link] (again not exactly the same).

If you plait the kelvar rope, you will find that this is quite heavy by itself, and you may not need the chain, which could cause problems of damaging and wearing the wick down quickly. Also, interweaving the wick with the chain, may cause it to loose flexabilty, depending on how you did it.

not mentioning how hot the chain would get seeing as it would be surrounded in fire.
and if that touches your skin mid spin.....
it will be painful.

eek

Mech's got a fire dart. I've seen him do some cool stuff with it, mostly based around launching it in the general direction of bystanders and punning it back. Looks cool. So he'd be the one to ask.

Will those capable of telekinesis please raise my hand?

I figured with a long enough wooden handle I wouldn't have to worry about heat transfer on the chain itself.

If you want something dramatic to just swing in a big circle, I saw a really cool one a while back- basically a wire cage on a rope with the cage filled with wire wool.. stuff some fuel-soaked rag in, set fire, sparks fly out everywhere when you swing it round..

Looks amazing, but probably lethal.. don't let anyone else stand within about 5 meters..

THE MEEK WILL INHERIT THE EARTH!

If that's okay with you?
