hey all,

i was wondering if anything exciting, fresh, or happy-making has happened to any of you this week? i've had a lot of stoopid, frustrating stuff happen, and would love hearing that at least somewhere, folks are having a kick-ass time

Not 'Bite my shiny metal a$$' Futurama Bender?

On an email list I'm on this quote pops up pretty often:

“If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world, and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.”
—E.B. White-

I find that improving the world is the most enjoyable thing, the challenge is finding a way to do it when in this twisted world every helpful gesture is percieved as a precursor to a request for something greater in return. This stopping the flow of good will between people.

It's a sad fact but sometimes life has to suck in order for the good bits to have something to compare to. If it was all just good, then it'd be tedious, and enjoyment wouldn't mean anything.

You should always have something to look forward to in the future to keep you going through the low points.

The week before my 21st I went back down to see all my college friends who were still at the old farm house we lived in (I dropped out part way through the course), and everyone was leaving for the end of term, instead of having a party like they'd discussed, so I spent my birthday on my own, sat in the garden.

Haven't had too many good birthdays. Now all I expect is to get older.

Maybe they saw the For Sale sign out front and thought they could get a look round...

oh sir sheep! hug thats dreadful! hope it gets better for you.

starpoi, no apologies needed. in truth, i was feeling really disconnected when i started this thread. i'm just glad people responded so warmly to it! avians included (not that the birdies replied, but that the topic shift is welcome).

fluff, thats a beautiful thought -- i know i've heard it before too. the next time i'm feeling all bouncy and radiant, i'll be sure to pass it along to someone needing a little good mood boost smile

ok, those ducks are great. reminds me of 'duck' from friends wink

I've had a crappy tense tired week with 2 sick teenagers and a sore back. But it's Friday now, and I just bought a bunch of fuel sorted my head out about a few things and tomorrow I might go to a friends house in the country and cut some firewood so that would be a complete break. *needs break!*

my week was cool. turned 19. went to a club. got presents. got roses. dressed up all pretty. then i got sick. but there are some bright sides; no spending all my money at the pub. no eating chocolate (yes, i know that that sucks, but it means i might loseweight). and getting to use the itnernet at the houe of one fo my students who also has mumps! yay for being sick toether!

i am going to go so crazy when i get better!

I've had the best week I've had in a long time. I learned to juggle, made and learned to play the didgeridoo, ordered my unicycle, and got out of school. I'm so happy!
