GEEKS! biggrin wink

wear_hat(HAT_TYPE_GEEK);

why Python Rocks and I like it a hell of alot more than java. wink

features: wink

- Dynamic runtime bottle allocation

- Guaranteed fair neighbour bottle distribution

- Monitored neighbour drunkenness ratio

- Multi-platform

- Fully-extensible

Python:

Code:

lyrics = """%i green bottles, hanging on the wall on the wall

%i green bottles, hanging on the wall on the wall

and if one green bottle should acidently fall

There'd be %i green bottles haning on the wall"""

for bottle in xrange(1000000000,0,-1):

print lyrics %(bottle,bottle,bottle-1)

C:

Code:

#include

int main(void)

{

int bottle=1000000000;

for( bottle=1000000000; bottle >= 0; --bottle)

printf("%i green bottles, hanging on the wall on the wall\n\

%i green bottles, hanging on the wall on the wall\n\

and if one green bottle should acidently fall\n\

There'd be %i green bottles haning on the wall\n",bottle,bottle,bottle-1);

return 0;

}

C++

Code:

#include

const unsigned int MAX_BOTTLES=1000000000;

int main(void)

{

for(int beer=MAX_BOTTLES; beer>=1; beer--)

{

std::cout <
<
<<"and if one green bottle should acidently fall\n"

<<"There'd be "<
}

return 0;

}

C#:

Code:

using System;

namespace geek

{

class Class1

{

const int MAX_BOTTLES = 1000000000;

const String lyrics = "{0} green bottles, hanging on the wall on the wall\n{0} " +

"green bottles, hanging on the wall on the wall\n" +

"and if one green bottle should acidently fall\n" +

"There'd be {1} green bottles haning on the wall\n";

[STAThread]

static void Main(string[] args)

{

for( int bottle = MAX_BOTTLES; bottle >= 0; --bottle)

Console.WriteLine(lyrics,bottle,bottle-1);

}

}

}

ASM - I suck at and even printing a number is far too much effort for this silly thread wink

Going off at a tagent whilst steam sorts it's life out and lets me play counterstrike: well, c# is microsoft java for windows, when I gave it a go last summer I couldn't quite understand how MS had gotten away with so many copyright violations. Can you really say that python is more multi-platform than java is thou? I dabbled with python about 6 years ago and have done lots of TCL since (not out of choice). It's ok for short things, but i'd go insane trying to manage code written in it over 10,000 lines. I agree that C and C++ need a proper overhaul, and I that's the main advantage of languages which have been designed and maintained by one central proffessional company/institution (ie Java, which efficiency aside I really enjoy coding large projects with). I'd like to see a non memory managed language which isn't archiaic, i see too many new languages which are designed at making them easy to learn and quick/sloppy to script in (without nessecarily being easy to read backwhen you've completely forgotten why you wrote it), as opposed to be a real alternative to C++ (which really is the only option for games programming (if i still had my ps2 dev kit i'd do a vector unit assembly version wink)). Thankfully the coding i encounter now at work is linux/unix based, generally in whatever language i want, to do it's job run by me or others, which 99% of the time is perl/bash smile
