It'd be neat to see one of these in real life... the only place I've seen it was on the internet, in the 'skillful' hands of Ken Create himself ubblol

Otherwise, he thought of someone who could do two of these at once is pretty cool. (this was mentioned earlier in the thread)
Yep, I'd like to play with these magic wands sometime biggrin

Are they hard to make?

It's not the sort of thing I'd like to buy, seeing as it just looks like a stick with a string tied to it.

Magic wands! I saw a guy on halloween that danced and did poi and weird plane changing stuff with two of these. It was one of the most gracefully and comedic things I've seen. biggrin

Unfortunately I really dislike string and the wands looked terrible if they get tangled

My friend samuel is a magician, he's just bought the new technology in wands.. over £100 chrome with only 1hole and a moving internal counter balance,he's gonna send me the spec and teach me some of the true magicians tricks so I don't suck and give away the secrets.
Hopefully I will have 1 in time for play along with how they are madeas someof the tricks he doescan't be done with the normal cheap wooden ones.

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

£100 chrome with only 1hole and a moving internal counter balance,

hollow stick with a weight in it then? ubblol

I think the main trick that most people I've seen do this fail to get is: The audience is gonna work out there's a string to your hand at some point, but you can confuse them as to which hand it is... (doing this will also maintain the illusion that it's magic) keep the hands close together, try and move them in ways so that the motion of the stick could reflect, be careful not to pass the controlling hand through the space above the non-controlling hand that 'could' be controlling the wand. always try your hardest to make the non-controlling hand look like it's in control. my 2 pence.

Or you could just pretend it's magic,

or just do poi with them.

or just dance around for fun likes...

anti-spin with them is fun... biggrin

um Meg,,... the trick is to change the controlling hand which is pretty easy, that way they DO get confused and it is quite easy to do.

you can also do some nice motion free anti gravity stuff which makes it look like it is hovering motionless between 2 hands with magically wiggling fingers, I only found this out talking to my magician friend who does magic tricks more than spinning ones.

not with the ones I have.

It's like taking a tight ring off. I'd have to be a pretty good thief before I could do that smoothly...

it should be a single loop of thread or fishing line to the wand and you just put your thumb through the loop if you have a ring on your finger people are just gonna say
"oh.. it's attached to that ring on his/her finger" wink

that way you can pass the loop from hand to hand smoothly and even have both hands in to shorten the thread and change the swing,

(I'm no expert at doing it this was just what I have been shown and told by a pro, as he doesn't want people doing it everywhere and giving away magic circle tricks, he's pretty much given up on D'lites ubblol )

Nah my loop has a tiny plastic thing to shorten it and keep it there. It has no ring, it just tightens up to the point of being unable to get it off even when you've stopped and want circulation back in your finger.

Maybe that's not the best design, but it's using black thread instead of fishing wire, so it's best to keep the line down to a single line, instead of a loop. (for use at night obviously...)

ahhh aloopmeans you can do so much more slow stuff not like the video's, although you can do that to, Chad was selling wands at play and teaching a few basic tricks, he does some nice stuff with 2.

only problem with fishingline is it reflects the light at night and black thead can be seen.... don't know the best thread to use really, but black seems the best option at night.

I shall try and get info off sam and make one like his and put up a pic/vid so you acn see construction

I assume this loop runs the whole length of the string and you can make a triangle of it using both hands, hence making the transfer easily smooth?

yep

1 peice of cotton running through the wooden wand and the ends tied.

the flashy one is 1 peice of cotton both ends going into 1 hole in the chromo tube and tied to a weight which moves up and down. when the wand is slowed and the hand moved towards then wand the weight sucks the loose cotton into the tube and when the thread is released all the thread bar a tiny loop is sucked into the wand (ideal for making it look like there is no thread) wink

Turbo wins. EVerytime. Except for the first battle against Electro-Rock. who do coincidentally rock. Poppin' Taco was in Electro-Rock with poppin' pete. they both rock. Pete's brother was boogaloo Sam who invented popping. And Sam also founded the electric boogaloos.

Mmmm... popping...

Ya hooooo
I got my flow toy magic wand today.
It was totaly worth the money to buy one from them as apose to make one my self and i usually make all of my gear.

Their wand has a beautiful rainbow finish is perfectly weighted and has a nice smoothe shiny coating which adds to the magic. I make a lot of circus type equipment for my self but i think it would take me a lot of time and reasearch to make one as cool as this.

now all i have to do is figger out how to use it with out looking stupid.
