This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

There are some cool things you can do with what you're doing though. I forget what it's called though...

Ok, this may sound pretty trivial to most of you 5 beaters and hyperloopsters, but I finally managed the reverse 3bt weave last nite, and i'm ecstatic.....!!!

After about 2 hours of serious head, legs, face & ass-whacking it suddenly fell into place. Woke up this morning at 4.45, got up, practised my new move for about 45 mins, went back to bed, and then slept through my alarm and was late for work...

Today is gonna be a good day....

I LOVE my life

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely smile

yay! new move!! i'm not sure what it's called here on hop, but on firechains it's called a one-handed corkscrew!!

it's so kewl! both poi are on one hand and they manage to flick away from each other (well - they do if they're going fast enough!!)

happy happy joy joy!!

Okay, so it isn't much, and it isn't anything special, but I finally figured out the 5b reverse weave, and a few moves that follow from it like the 4b corkscrew and the 4b windmill biggrin

haven't posted in here for ages cos i've been far too lazy to learn things wink

this weekend, i have been mostly [studying for exams and] throwing and catching three balls in these patterns:

441
531
(45) 12345 (12)
5241
54141

all those are sorted now (can sit in the pattern for a good few cycles).

despite stupid amounts of practice/attempts i still can't do these very well at all (aka 'my current wish list'):

three ball: backcrosses, mikes and rubensteins mad
three club: continuous 441 and 531, self tomahawks;
four ball: fountains, columns, 534, 633, 5551 (i *so* want this one), half shower (both), 55550;
five ball: ubblol

and this is where you realise all of this is just a cunningly disguised advert for the new thomas dietz video biggrin
prepare to catch your jaw - this bloke's a nutter...

tried them with fire last night and they worked "swell"!

This week, I have been mostly practisin' my mills mess.
I've kind of got it too biggrin
Also, rainbow crosses and some kind of multiplex thing have been on the go as well.

Since that's not strictly speaking anything to do with this poi moves thread, I'll mention something else I have. I don't have a name for this other than 'stupid':

Swing one poi up into a big half circle and stall it so it drops down to the other side of your body, with your arm behind your head.
(so if your left arm is swinging the big half circle, the poi ends up hanging down almost next to your right arm and your left arm is behind your head)

From there, swing the second poi around and into the first, catching it and pulling it into a hyperloop, which will pull it around your body, bringing your arm with it back to somewhere more comfortable.

Oh yeah, poindexter weave turns are quite fun too - start spinning the weave, stick your wrists onto the top of your head and turn, and keep turning and turning and turning until you feel the need to fall over biggrin

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

No, no! It's a message telling you that you'll find your poi if you do it again! Incentive, darlin'!

Me, I finally got an isolated buzzsaw for a bit. And Tree taught me an airwrap. ubblove It was a good day.

I managed to do a reverse weave going under my left leg, then back out to the right, and then back to the left, under the left leg. Not graceful yet, but getting there....at least I'm not smackin' myself everytime I do it.

Now....isolations...they...seem conceptually easy, but are terribly hard to actually, physically comprehend.

actually... you can put one in the middle of a hyperloop or you can do it inside...
er.... what I mean is.. you can do a normal hyperloopand have it pass through the buzzsaw oryou can do a hyperloop just inside the buzzsaw where it tanlges and untangle s on the inside..
