I was sitting on my bed, thinking about how fun it would be to learn how to use a staff, but I didn't know where to get one. Then my eyes drifted over to the edge of my bedroom, and I saw an old bamboo pole I had cut during a summer camp in Texas. It's a bit long, though. Almost fingertip to fingertip. Any ideas about how much I should cut off and how I should go about weighting it?

The length is probably not too bad. My staff is floor to chin (about 5')

Easiest way to weight it would probably be bicycle inner tubes wrapped around the end and taped in place. Your LBS probably has a bunch of useless ones.

Since it's a bamboo pole, though, I'm wondering if there's a way to weight it that would seem more... "natural." And as for height, it comes up to eye level.

I guess with bamboo you will have hollows on either end, I guess you could fill those with something for weighting. That would then give you at least the appearance of a bamboo cane, although wouldn't be too forgiving if you hit yourself with it...

If i had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isnt. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldnt be. And what it wouldnt be, it would. You see?

You tie them on with vines or something if you like.
