So it seems there might be a few spinners heading to asia this winter with spinning on their minds. I just wanted to see who else is heading over, what their plans are while they're over there.

My tickets are booked! I'm arriving in bangkok 16th november, and returning to ireland 3rd February

I've heard from a lot of spinners of a park in bangkok where people meet up every day to play. Thanks to Banshee Cat for the following info:

 Written by:

It is the Pra Atit boat stop, and the park is called Pra Sumen. I would reccommend staying closish by at the guesthouses on Sri Ayyutaya rd-- Tavees Guesthouse, or Sri Ayyutaya's, or Shantis, all very close together down that road. Nice community... May Kai Dees is a great restaurant for veggie food along near that strip-two locations, one on samsen, and one off the end of Kho San rd and across the st.... Probably more specific address in the guide books...

Nick (poi celebrity number 1 wink) is planning on a poi camp in Pai, northern Thailand, where spinipulation enthusiasts can meet up and play, practice, etc (see his post below). I definately plan on spending some time up there with him during my adventure. Probably stop number one after bangkok... ubbrollsmile

Leave your winter behind, come find some winter summer!

COME SEE HOW FAR THE RABBIT HOLE GOES!

Zip loc bags of different sizes to seperate all the different groups of things. Handiest thing i ever packed. Then when you unpack. You only have 5 or 8 things. And not a pile in the corner coz you needed that one thing at the bottom.

Last update from smilyland for the people arriving into Bankog!!:D

When you arrive into the airport they'll try to sell you the express shutle bus into Kao san Road, that costs 150 Baht. You can do that, or take the bus that the Tai people takes, 200 meters from the express bus station, a free bus that takes you to the airpots bus terminal. From there you take the 556 bus to Kao san Road, it takes about the same time (1:30h), and is 35 baht. Any bus you take be ready for the air conditioner,.. it gets really cold inside.

At the moment the park is really nice with more and more people joinig us. We are staying at the Thai Green Guesthouse, next to the park. Upss!! And we are: Markus. Ying,Jay and myself. Its pretty cheap.100 for single, 130 for double, 140 for twin.

Haven't got the address with me at the moment, but its close to the park so if you want to get here we could meet at the park.welcome

Enjoying a coffee in Ouds juggleling cafe, really nice spot, I''ll write the address another day, but is close to the park too.

The weather here is really hot and wet, but when I went to ask for the bus to chiang mai, they told me that up there they've got 28 degrees and nighttime 18, looks like it gets cooler!!!

Planing into going up to Pai after bankog Hope to see u all soon!!!

Hey Maiuki, now I know where you're coming from ubblol
I'll be at the park tonight (If I can keep awake - 11 hrs flight rolleyes ), if not tomorrow. Is the "green house" on this side (close to the park), or past the bridge/ ice factory?

However, if things come to worst, maybe you could call me at 08-7070014 (local cellphone) and tell me where you are????

Ah, what! We'll see each other tonight. bounce

Well - I reckon Katinca and I will be visiting Pai for Christmas for 'a few days' and then will be heading south for some island chilling, the world rainbow gathering and perhaps a full moon party, before heading over to India for a bit.

Looking forward to meeting whoever is in Pai at the time! smile

seems like, this is the link for raimbow gathering:
https://groups.yahoo.com/group/thaicaravan/
"start new Moon 20 December 2006
Peak on Full Moon 3 January 2007
Until New Moon 19 January 2007"
it doesn't seems there is a site decided yet

I'm still wondering where I'll be going exactly ..
Josh's plan sounds good

Looks like the rainbow gathering is working on setting the site at a beach called Ao Chaak sp? , in Ranong( south). But they are still sorting it out, nothing is "confirmed". There are meeting points for the scouts if you want to get involved, check out the "files" section on the site Olive listed or email some of the tribe people...

Arrived in Pai with Jay (very nice fire spinner from France) and Maiuki. 12 hour bus journey from Bangkok to Chang Mai- 200 baht (seems like a very good price. Maiuki can you put some info about where it was we bought the ticket from in case anyone else needs a bus?)

This is fantastic

Lovely practice space, my own little bamboo hut, equipped with hammock for evening chill out, perfect weather, nice and hot during the day, cool enough to use a blanket at night, lovely people, feeling good. Deadly buzz biggrin

So my excursion starts on Monday to Bangkok. I'll probably be spending a few days there.and then making my way to Pai.

I picked my ticket up at skyways.de and paid 500 Euro for the flight from Frankfurt to Bangkok. Not quite sure what offers are now available, but it's probably worth a check. Good luck.... Cheers.
