Ok so in order to settle a little PIP discussion.

Can the Moderators read PM's?
Can Malcolm read PM's?

The reckoning at late night PIP was split about 50:50 don't know.

Now don't be no one getting upset, I'm just asking

There go kids, I said I'd post
(and in events too )

I’ve often wondered about that on as well. Well mods?

We've been asked this a few times already, ironically, by PM!!

I know I can't read others messages, as I looked throught he whole site the ifrst time someone asked me, and there's not evena n option to show me if they have any, let alone give me access.

which is good, coz Private means Private in my book!

Not if they're in the "Events and Gathering" section. Nobody ever reads that.

Good question. I'd always assumed not, but maybe this is some psychology experiment that Malcolm is running.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

If I were a mod, I would have moved this to Social by now - but I'm not. So lets pretend that I actually DID see this post, and that my thread in Social was intentionally started to get the discussion in the right place

Its not like I missed it or anything...

I didn't know about this one until now, and now that I do, I moved it. Your thread of the same topic has been closed Josh, as this has more replies and was started first.
And to answer the questions...

No the ability is not there for us, I have checked a few ways because of this question (and I used Josh's account to do the check! ).
No I can not.
No I would not.

I would also venture to say that I know the other mods and Malcolm well enough to know that the thought of reading other people's private stuff never crossed any of our minds, ever.
I find the idea rather upsetting and insulting.

And if you don't have anything to hide, then what are you worried about?

Here is the answer

Moderators can not access other peoples PM's. Only the sender and recipient can read them.

You require your "my profile" password to access that area.

Moderators do not have access to other peoples passwords.

Administrator (Malcolm) is the only person who has full access to everything on the server. Including your passwords, PM's, shop area etc...

Malcolm only ever read his own PM's and mine (sometimes when I need help).

If you have a problem with PM's being sent to you you can block users from PMing you.
You can also be notified by email when you get a PM.

The most wonderfull thing about computers is, that if you set your mind to it, you can do it.

What I mean is, nothing is sacred on the internet. There is no such thing as secure, or privet. There are some things that are more secure than others, but nothing is 100% secure.

Dont give out personal information, even if it is to someone you know. Things can be intercepted quite easily and anyone with a decent computer and connection can hack their way into your PMs, email, even your own PC.
