i have only done it once... and that was ages ago (like 7 years) i think there is some lavendar oil in there too from memory... but definately lemon

you need to get some kind of tube with a nozzle on it so that you can squeeze it out in a controlled way... but not alot of help... sorry!

Indian ladies usually apply their fancy patterns with stencils... you can buy them in bazaars in India, and a lot of the festival type stalls have them.. the ones that sell glass bangles and little boxes with mirrors and Krisna posters and stuff... but I think other people use nozzles and stuff, be a lot more clumsy though.

I used to use henna for my hair all the time. Indeed: mix it with hot water and lots of lemon juice, and sometimes a raw egg white mixed in when it was cool, to get it to go more like a gel, not fall off in clumps. And also to slow it drying out, cos the slower it dries the stronger the colour.

And if we wanted a more coppery colour, we would soak a bit of copper pipe or copper wire in it for a few days (with the lemon juice..) But lavender... hmm sounds like a later nature girl addition, as in 'if in doubt, use lavender....'

*We* being of course the old hippies currently being discussed in a few other threads!! peace wave

The mix we use is to first seive the henna. The fresher the powder the better. Squeeze lemons and seive the juice or buy lemon juice. Mix the lemon juice with the henna powder until its kinda toothpaste consistancy.

We then add about half a teaspoon of euc oil and leave overnight. Meant to be able to use tea tree oil as well.

Everyone has different recipe so best thing is to play with the powder and see.

Slack way to apply is to get a strong ziplock bag and nip a corner off and squeeze. Nicer is to make a cone from plastic.

That henna site from newgabe is fabulous.
