Hello, hello and welcome to the thread for all Irish fire dancers, spinners, object manipulators, drummers, musicians and anyone else interested in these arts in Ireland.

This thread was started nearly a couple of years ago now... and it's since grown to include more people, gatherings, events, fun and games than we had thought possible.

And it's still growing - so if you're new to the arts, or want to meet up with any of us, please post at the end of this thread to introduce yourself... or send me a PM with your email address and I'll add your name to our mailing list.

There are spinners, dancers and manipulators all over the country, and you'll find lots of them on here... don't be shy, we're nice biggrin

So welcome, and hope to see you soon hug

Ado did you click 'buy'?

Me gonna be visiting sometime soon (perhaps i should have let Firepoise know first? ubblol) Most likely in Jan. Most likely up Norf. biggrin

A question - If you were a fairy buying aerotech meteors, would you get blue-white-uv purple or green-white-uv purple (from handle to tip?)

kiss

I would go for orange/green... hem, actually I *will* go for orange/green biggrin

I'm not sure this is the right time for that though : ultimate props are gonna be released very soon and I'm sure Aerotech's gonna adapt ultimate tech. to spinning props (16 millions colors, gosh
Non-Https Image Link
) anyway I'm pretty sure I won't wait much longer ubbrollsmile

Happy new years Irish spinners and jugglers ! I hope I'll be able to come back before next EJC, Barry you still have to teach me staff wink

Take care and enjoy new year's eve weavesmiley

Happy New Year all you lovely Irish HoPpers hug

I've come here to ask you a bit of advice about July's EJC in Millstreet. If I fly from Cardiff to Cork how easy is it to get to the EJC site? The web site says there are buses to the train station from the airport but how far away at the other end is the site from the train station?

Oh and tickets.... are they on sale yet?

Skully - in answer to your questions:

Millstreet is VERY small. It would take around 10 minutes (maybe 15 if laden down with many hoola hoops) to get from any part of the town to another. The train station is within walking distance of the EJC site.

And about tickets: we are hoping to open pre-registration early next month, both on our website and through the EJA country reps. All of those details will be available as soon as they are definate, through our website, as Barry says.

Sorry to be vague, but believe me we are working on it.

Looking forward to seeing you there

hi-hi everyone and happy new year, I hope we have all seen sense and put the festive containers away and returned to our toys...says I.
the convention sounds great, have a look at the page.
Bill and me have been working on some funny new contact passing and partner spinning stuff so anyone whose interested let me know and there'll be a nice little workshop lined up...but no partner butterfly stuff though, eh ado!?
Hi guys, hows the Limerick club going? Workshops(laughs, spliffies and excess spinning) may be in order in the new year, what do ye think?
I'm off to clon in the next few weeks to do a couple of workshops there one saturday; *warm-ups, movement, beat-counting,all fuffed out with a diabolo workshop,(for the 25strong diabolo-youth-army they have going down there), and then the same again for adults 'tee-hee', in the afternoon, but with balls mostly...and maybe sticks...it'll be fun and perhaps we could come together there for a little twirl. So far its mainly a clon thing but anyone is more than welcome to come along, if ye happen to be in the vicinity like;)
wow!look at that...i did a Fandango on it, well I guess I should stop drinking coffee and go to bed now since it is, after all, time to get up,
morning all,

Hello all...

Just wanted to let you know...

*deep breath*

Check this out smile

www.firepoise.com

It's a work in progress at the minute, but we needed something up cos the Irish News ran a big feature on us today.

All hail the design genius of Rob Hilken biggrin

www.robhilken.com

So cross your fingers that it works and 2006 is good for all of us biggrin

Also, the BBC were in contact today. They want to do some filming for a local programme... will let you know more later smile

And I had a great chat with the effortlessly gorgeous Helen (of Poi) last night... looks like all is good for an Irish EJC fire show (tis not confirmed though, so don't get too excited)

I'm starting to think of some ideas and structure, but anyone who has any thoughts, please let me know.

No doubt we all want to do something to help out the EJC lads - they've got a massive job and a comparatively small community - if you can draw, paint, design, or have access to lights, staging or Anything that might possibly be useful... contact helen_of_poi...

Take care everyone...
Hope to see you soon biggrin

Clare love the site- it will look fab when its all done.

My wee project is underway now I have a whole load of posters printing and i'm going to fire them up around uni tomorrow.I need more than 15 members and a committee formed before 2nd Feb - Fingers crossed !!!!!

Can anyone reccommend a good source for juggling balls, basic poi and a couple of cheap practice staff just in case we do get up and running. We won't get any SU funding until September so a few fund raising ideas would be handy too:)

So if any of you are at the University of Ulster give me a shout so we can get a get a wee club up and running.

Well done lady (and thanks) biggrin

And the name rocks!!!

UU Jam... the possibilities are endless biggrin

Cheap juggling balls - athletic stores in Belfast
Cheap poi - make em out of socks
Cheap staff - broom handles with old towels taped neatly to the ends.

Take care
x

PS: Michelle... are you busy this weekend? Do you want to come to ours for Saturday night?
