Alright, I know there is many of them out there, but I went through about 15 pages of topics and didn't find what I needed to know.
Now, I usually use the nice Ultra Pure Lamp Oil stuff for all my poi needs, just because it's what I usually have in the house (my family's got a bunch of oil lamps so we've always got lamp oil to spare).
Anyways, I was at the store today (strangely enough, it happened to be Walmart that I found all the stuff at) and I was in the camping section looking at some fuels.
There was the Citronella Lamp Oil (came in outdoor and indoor versions)
As well as a smaller make of bottle that was labeled as a 'Kero based lamp oil' (The fact it said "based" scared me out of getting it. I mean, if it's only based on Kero, what else is in there? o.O)
And there was a 4L thing of Lamp Oil.
The last one there is what I'm considering most.
It's for outdoor use, and had the following on the label;
"Triple Filtered
Low Sulphur
Fuel for low odour heaters"
I figure, if it's for 'low' odour heaters, it wouldn't have all the same additives as the indoor nice smelling lamp oil.
I know some people use the Citronella for poi, but I've never heard of anyone using it for breathing. The stuff is all done by Recochem (A fairly large chemical company)
Their site and their stuff is right here; https://www.recochem.com/english/products/outdoor_living/index.html
I was wondering if anyone has any recomendations on fuels. I know everyone has their prefrence and the factors (cost, burn etc...) all matter differently to everyone, but any info regarding experiences or thoughts on the fuels/company I've talked about would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to contact the company to see if I can get a MSDS for their fuels or at least some sort of ingredients/additives percentages typpe thing so I know a bit better what my options are.
Can never be to safe biggrin

And whats wrong with the lamp oil you currently use? In my experience, the Lamp Oil and Ultra Pure Lamp Oil found at Walmart is best. Not sure which of the two is better because Ive heard that the Ultra Pure has more chemicals to make it less smelly/sooty but Im not sure how accurate that claim is.

Heard the same thing too, but again I dunno how valid the claim is

Nothing's wrong with it...I just can't find it anymore.
So I'm on the lookout for a new fuel.
What I posted up there is what I found.
I'm debating getting a small 1L thing of the Ultra pure lamp oil they have and testing it out at my friend's Birthday party...entertain some people there for a while with it wink
I also liked the look of that Triple filtered one...anyone have any experiences or anything on that?

well, the most experienced fire breather I know personally always uses the ulttra pure lamp oil from walmart too. he tried biodiesal for a while. prefered it in many ways (especially taste), but was unsatified by the significant reduction in fireball size.

I know some people use greek fire water, but I don't really even know what that is to tell the truth, or where you can get it (I've been told magician and juggling supply stores carry it, but I don't know where any of those are either).

most kero's you find in stores are doped with naptha to make it light better. naptha is a neuro toxin. use jet fuel from self-service airports or use pure kero if you can find it in some other form... you don't want to absorb naptha through your mouth

Q:What's the difference between the Great Highland Bagpipes and the Northumbrian Pipes?
A:The Great Highland Pipes burn longer.

Alright, I was back in town today and I went to a few stores that carried camping goods.
Most of the stuff was all the same as what I found earlier.
It was either indoor/outdoor scented lamp oil
premium scented or non scented lamp oil
and the most promissing looking to be triple filtered, low odour heater and lamp oil.
I also wanted to know if any of you know what the rating 1-K means? I've been finding it on alot of the fuels these days and I realized I'm not sure what it means...^.^' I'm hoping it means less toxic than all the other stuff.
By the way, has anyone ever used citrolite to fire breathe before? I know some people use it for poi...but I want to know how it would be for breathing...

I supose I'll buy 1L of each and do some testing on all the fuels with my friend.

I wouldnt recommend citrolite for breathing. Id be surprised if you willingly put that stuff in your mouth after taking a nice wiff of it.

If you don't want it to kill you, then I wouldn't use ANYTHING for firebreathing (but you all knew I was going to say that, didn't you).

If you spin fire or firebreath, ALWAYS get an MSDS sheet from whoever is selling it and go through the risks, then try to choose the one with the lower CHANCE of killign you, either slowly or suddenly....

:P I think we all know what I meant.
Does anyone know where I can find the rating system for the fuels?
I still want to know what that 1-K meant.
