I like to indulge in words that are out of the ordinary. I thought I may transpire some of this fun to you. Unfortunately, I am only familiar with the english language; please feel free to ad whatever you may wish == in fact it is encouraged!!
DEFENESTRATE - to throw somebody or something out of a window.
GARBOLOGY - the study of garbage.
NO-NO - usually used to describe vodka, also aplies to other alcoholic beverages
HALLUX - the scientific word for your big toe
POIGNANT - synanym to sad
REPUGNANT - disgusting

I feel "thank you" and "hello" are words some people apparently don't know in france (yeah yeah ... someone will say "that's because it's english )

in spanish "defenestrar" means to throw somebody out of a window, i think it could mean the same in english...
it could have something to do with the monarchy thing, but that would be because of the revolutions and the way they deposed monarchy... or perhaps i'm just thinking too much...

*facepalm* I used to do this in 6th grade and look up random words then use them for the week. I forgot their meaning, so I just used the word in a random sentence and made myself look cool and smart

If I remeber right it refers to the methods used by people trying to impress the listener with the over use of long complicated words which are actually outside of the speakers's vocabulary.
i.e. they don't know what it means but they like the air of intelligence it creates by using them.

The one I like is: DISGRUNTLED
Meaning to be unhappy or upset.
Imagine a coversation:
"How are you today?" If you were a little upset you may say "Im feeling quite DISGRUNTLED today!"
What if you were happy? "How are you today?" - "Yes, yes, Im quite GRUNTLED, thank you very much!"
Quite amusing/confusing!
Try it tomorrow when you are asked how you are - the face you get are quite a treat!

alright my favorite word is Beligirent. In my experience it is a drunken disorderly person.
Example: The girl passed out on the couch has been beligirent all night.
I guess I like this cause people use it to refer to me often. Beligerent and "that drunk giggly girl" usually.
The other word is smarmy. One of my friends use this to discribe the fuzzy drunken state when you know everything, again use to discribe me often.
