Okay basically since i saw some jugglers 2 weeks ago and i was poi i ng with them i started introducing throws and well juggling type moves i spose. I found i can do a 7 beat weave if i change my handsover on the right hand side, also can go from a forwards butterfly to a backwards by swapping hands.
Best throws are doing it with my right hand at the moment. But i have really started to get controll of the throws, knowing wat angel is best to release the poi so it spins/has the right height, or when it falls back to my hand.
Havng a bit of trouble with my left hand but its getting better.
anyone got any good throws/hand swaps? weavesmiley

One I discovered recently:

Reverse butterfly --> Right hand does BTB over shoulder throw
Tap back instead of catching
Whilst poi is spinning in the air switch your left hand poi into your right hand
Catch with left
Forward butterfly
cool

Looks VERY funky with fire smile

Burner of Toast
Spinner of poi
Slacker of enormous magnitude

Very nice Mr D....gonna try that later! Been getting into lots of BTBthrows of late.....have done something similar but much simpler and without the tap back ubbrollsmile

I was just gonna suggest spinning both poi infront of you in same clockwise direction (not butterfly), release the right poi under the left arm and release the left poi into the right hand the empty left hand catches the flying poi from the right hand. It's basically like throwning two juggling balls between your hands but with spinng poi biggrin Very simple and looks very nice too boot weavesmiley juggle

a throw i like:

from backwards (i think) butterfly realease rght poi so it gose under your left arm. isolate the throw a bit so the handle spins and the poi head stays close to your left arm, 'bounce ' the handle off youre right hand as it loops around (if you caught it at this point youd be in a weave type move) again, let the handle spin around again and catch it and resume butterfly smile

and bug that 'simple' 'basically like throwing two juggling balls' move... i learnt to juggle so i could learn that move, and i still cant do it... grrrrrrrrr mad mad

For a while now I have benn trying (and failing) to perform a throw from a reverse weave, releasing the left poi on the right side of my body, the natural spin allows me to catch it with the chain of the right poi, as if doing an airwrap, and bring it back in front of me, its just the getting hold of the handle again that I can't get to work!!!

mad ooooops mad

hope that makes sense!

you kinda catch one poi with the other, then (try to) transfer it back to your hand! Its got to the stage where I know it is possible to do, and I can repeat the catch process, just can't transfer it back to my hand before it falls on the floor!

Bird do you mean you catch one poi with the other poi yeah? I've been trying to get these but can only fluke the handle into my hand. It's all in the tangle.... rolleyes ....bloody things! I've done one where I went to catch the one sock poi with the other then they tangle then it spits it out into the air again then catch and tangle again and then catch the handle. But it was one of those once only fluke times when I wasn't even trying to do it!!

Yeah, catching one poi with the other!

I was working on it earlier and managed to repeat a catch several times, I've found that I need to turn my body as I catch it to be able to continue spinning! all i need now is a bit of consistency!!

Three Weeks!!!!!!!

WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

ubbrollsmile bounce bounce2 ubbrollsmile

best get myself practising!

what about throwing poi to other people???
me and duballstar were working on this last night.

other people throws
try facing each other . doing an upwards 3beat weave

then both at the same time throw under right leg with right hand to the other person.aim and counting spins is v important as club jugglers will be aware.
also remeber when you cath the poi will have magically changed direction .

so once your accuracy is up to scratch both do a butterfly standing next to each other one left hand throw one right hand throw from TTN (gently does it ) should be no problem

my original signature was tooo long.
this one is shorter

I thought about this but not when I've been with other spinners! rolleyes I'd love to see it done well like club juglers sometime. I like your idea of TTN and release, that must look real good
