I have been doing poi, firetwirling and firebreathing. Everytime I practice I end up with a huge crowd watching and clapping. I was thinking about doing some busking closer to the city and street preforming.
Can anyone give me some ideas or pointers?

Speaking from one who knows...
If you wanna busk at say, Roma Street Parklands, you need to contact them for a permit. If you wanna busk in the mall with fire, you can't. (No fire or knives allowed in the mall both the Valley and the City). If you wanna busk at Southbank Parklands, you gotta contact them for a permit too.
Hear hear to Bender with safety and all of his valid points (1 to 6 no. 2) yep all of em.
But the safety issue... even a chalk circle is going to be bloody hard to see at night for most people. (Hell, you could have a shiny rainbow path held up by leprachauns and you'd still have people walking into it/across it not quite understanding the 'perimeter' concept. And saying "oh, sorry I didn't realise you were doing something here!" etc
Also with the city, you are not allowed to perform on the footpaths of the buildings as the owners of the buildings possess the land from the base of their building right up to the road. I kid you not.
You could probably perform on the road but then there's an added danger factor here and I can't see the police being happy with that concept anyway. Or the state government...
Safety first for sure, you'd be giving every other performer a bad name if you just pulled your fuel out and toys and started going rank without regard for safety both public and your own. But you're obviously smarter than that cause you've asked

As Splat said there are quite a few regulations about where you busk - particularly with fire... but if land is privately owned/leased you usually just need to get permission from the owner...
(and by the way, unfortunately Mt Coot-tha look-out is now no longer an option)
