Hi everyone

I'm coming up to Edinburgh for a few days over new year... have you got a spinning meet planned? Or is there somewhere that spinners usually navigate towards? if not do any of you fancy getting together for a beer and a spin? (i know it's way early still, but i'm really excited about it!)

(btw i'm just learning poi, and am not very good yet!)

People spin regularly on a Monday night in the Meadows. When are you likely to be visiting?

What's the best thing to do in Edinburgh for new year? I've heard there are loads of great events - is there a decent fireworks display?

there MAY be some spinnage on random hills for fireworks action Other sipnning can be organised dependant on who's around... poke people here well in advance.

Edinburgh have a rather huge Hogmanay (New Year's) celebration. Kinda hard to get tickets to the street fest if you're not local... assume they may sell some from the hub?
But HUGE fireworks display... easily seen from hills, tho pick with the wind blowing the smoke away from ye ubbrollsmile

No idea, I've only been here for 2 years, and the 1st new year I was home in Germany! I don't really seem to be getting the British New Year yet, the German one is all about being with friends and having a nice meal (preferably a social one like fondue) at someone's place, playing stupid games, watching "Dinner for One" and at 12 going outside and setting off as many fireworks as you can afford.

The British one is about getting pissed, as usual. Oh, and watching the fireworks that someone else sets off...

Gotta say it, Hogmanay in Edinburgh is rubbish. No drink for sale, extortionate prices to go and satnd in the road for two hours, no room to move, it was total pants. If anyone's gonna be spinning, Tammie and I'll probably be there instead smile

Birgit, you've only sen one British one, it's actually about thanking whoever you believ in for a good year and celebrating the coming of the new one, contrary to your belief we're not all loud obnoxious alcoholics obsessed with WW2 wink
