Are you more likely to twirl if you are a psychology student.I know this may seem a strange question but i have noticed in my travels that a lot of people who twirl are psych students.Im just interested to see how many psycho's (as it were) who visited this site.CheersAPB

I reckon the reason they r psch students is that the people u meet whilst travelling are usually people who r interested in other people (meeting them, their culture, practises etc.) so r more likely to do a person related subject. also many people learn to twirl whilst travelling. i did (and i was a sociology student).

It is probably just that a lot of people are psych students. No offense, but I actually have a little game with myself where I try to guess if someone is a psych student or not. Some observations from a trained scientist:If anyone ever askes you to guess what their major is, say psych as your default answer - you'll be correct more than half the time. If you walk by a class and it has a dissportionate number of cute girls in it, it is most probably a psych class. (I'd be interested to know if that is true outside the USA too)[This message has been edited by vanize (edited 23 October 2001).]

Ah, I see you're testing my hypothesis for me! APB you already know I'm a psych student...but for the rest of you, yes it's true. Oh, and of course I am very cute winkFirefairy, I agree with the travelling link. I reckon loads of people learn to twirl when they travel, I had certainly never seen it before I went travelling a few years ago.But if anyone else asks if I am going to read their minds, they get a smack in the mouth!Princess xxx

Great thing about the psych degree is that I was one of a very few males in my undergrad classes. It was saaaweeet. Firefairy, unfortunately I specialize in Industrial/Organizational Psych with a minor in pyromaniac tendencies. Not too many ladies there though :-(------------------"We do not inherit this Earth from our ancestors, but merely borrow it from our children"

Tis is pretty interesting. I am majoring in biology with emphasis in marine biology, oceaography minor. Not exactly psych, but still sciences. I never thought about a link between spych students and poi. I think it's pretty obvious the link between culture, people and poi though.

For me, yeah I spin & do Psych.Though the rest of my spinning friends do many and varied things - from engineering to nursing. Most have got the travelling spirit though, so I'd say that's a bigger link than the psych.vanzie,Ratio of girls:guys in our year is about 3:1. Odd that. wink

Sorry Melissa, I intended the "minor in pyromaniac tendencies" as a joke. Would be a cool course to take or teach though! I went to UNC undergrad and worked in the Chemistry labs all 4 years. I'm surprised we didn't burn the place down. But we do still have access to chemicals for colored fire (ie. lithium = red, potassium permangenate = purple). Audax, I agree with you about traveling and twirling. Seems like most spinners are very open to interacting with and experiencing new cultures.
