Throughout the world of poi there walk a breed aside from other moves. Many have claimed that they don’t exist, or that they did, but that they died out with some long lost tribe of poi masters, and now they are “just legends”. But, they exist, and not just in the fairy tales we tell young poisters and poiettes to make then scared of the bogie poi that live under their beds.

The Jedi set are the most technical of the most technical moves.
The Jedi set are the poi swinging moves which defy the known laws of the physical world.
For everyone of them, at the moment only a handful are known, is utterly a Jedi move.

Until recently the easiest known move in the the jedi set was a 5 beat weave to reverse 5 beat weave behind the back, preferably done in the wall plane. And yet some exciting new discoveries uncovered using the latest state of the are technology in archeopoilogy. New additions have been threatening to join the ranks of the Jedi set, The Eight Council of Poi demi-gods are currently in congress to determine the place if any of these exciting new finds which include 2 air wraps within the Jedi set.

Not everything is known of the origins of the Jedi set. But it is much hinted in pagan folklaw, that in days of old back in martober two mysterious men, possibly of a tribe of orangeness denoted by their attire met in a misty field in Clay-pham a small village near Londinium. And lo, One of them who may have been the legendary Jedi Tony Touch spaketh unto the other, (the ugly stupid one with poor personal hygiene) who is, it is rumoured to be a distant forefather of the author. (alas the lineage has never been proven).

“That move is utterly Jedi.”

And to the sounds of trumpets from between the legs of a chorus of angels, the Jedi set was gently placed by a large crane amongst the meeting of poiers.
And the quest began...

That was many moons ago, and little remains to document what happened in that original quest...

I've read about trinity... and I think I understand through common sense what you mean by cross... but what's dragon's tongue? And what does it mean, turning spheres inside out?

Cryptic hints are fine and dandy, but please remember that not all of us are lucky enough to be in the midst of huge prolific spinning communities where we can trade ideas and learn and watch spinners of all different styles several times per week.

gotto agree with the cryptic man, get into atomics, sphere verses circle.

the cross is the true plane, of which the are four.

butterfly and weave are the same thing in diffrent times.

having learnt to flow with, flow against. when one poi moving forwards encounters another poi moving backwards, loops occur.

dont take up cj, it eats practice time.

you guys didn't know that glass was such a smooth operator, i'll bet. i heard he has this reverse psychology "jedi mind trick" poi technique, whenever he says, "hey, it's time to leave this party" at least three girls come up and rub their booties on him, and i don't mean their galoshes ubblol , and he stays for a few hours, fighting them off until he grows weary of their coo-ing, and then he says "time to go" and it happens all over again! darn lucky brits! at least that's what i heard. but maybe my sources can't be trusted. there are many nasty rumours flying about concerning those brits. rolleyes

*BUMP!*

Hmmm;. Visiting this place for the first time.. pretty much cos id rather procrastinate than work on my thesis...

theres a few moves i can do...;. But far more that I cant. tongue

If these move arent up to jedi standard, my apologies; ill move them to the 'I just learnt a new move thread.'

At the moment im working on a whole series of neck wrap combos. Im using 4ft dog chains at the moment cos they are easier to control, but once I master a move im try to gravitate to smaller chains.

I can do that simultaneous [both hands] double neckwrap from the butterfly mentioned on the first page of the thread, but combine that with doing the same thing in reverse after the poi have unwrapped the first time and my head is still angled back.

It is extremely psycho ; ive worked out a fallback safety with my hands for the rare time that I f*ck the move up - which seems to work.

Then there are a whole series of double neckwraps [just single hand this time!] with various butterfly combinations; spinning around and generally being foolish.

Im doing much the same with incorporating double neck wraps into weave combos.

My latest move is this.

When the forward weave is on my left side, I do a double neck wrap with my left poi, spin 180 degrees right to unwind, meanwhile swing my right poi around so it is already in front of me as I turn around.

Just as the left poi unwraps anti clockwise, I wrap the right poi [anti clockwise] into a double neck wrap from the back of my neck. As spin around another 180 degrees to unwind, the left poi should come around nicely so you left where you started - on the left side of a forward weave.

There;s a various other combos you can do with these either direction.

Even more crazy:

From the weave on the left side, wrap both chains around your neck ; your right poi from the front of your neck, your left poi from the back of the neck. Either spin 180 degrees or tilt your head back to unwind.

Ive only done this once with fire [with two spotters with fire blanket and extinguisher]; just so I could say I did it. Not sure ill do it again cos of the major potential for facial scarring.

ive also been playing around with double neckwrap suicide wraps - in the various forms discussed above. the coolest yet is a simultaneous [both hands] butterfky double neckwrap suicide wrap - at least thats what i THINK im doing.

anyway, back to work!!

Buzzsaw hyperloop, turn 90 degrees so it's a wheel plane hyperloop, release one poi at the correct time (Takes a bajillion tries to figure out when) and it should release and fly upwards. Let it do a complete revolution, grab your handle again and continue spinning. Voila, hyperloop release!

none of this is very jedi tho, maybe a double horisontal body wrap suicide... but not really. basically, if no-body else is even capable of understanding (in your estimation) what your doing, then its jedi. therefore excusing you from any resposibility of explaining it.

the problem with jedi moves is you need the force to communicate the idea.. which ineveitably results in watch... which inevitably results in ok..so you do this.. ok no hold up.. ok then after that thing I showed you it will do this.. and then this.. dang.. hold up.. and then go into something like that... followed by... phew. at last i've got round to trawling through most of this thread so thought i might as well post on it. as well as giving myself a kick up the ass to nail the btb turning 5 (claimed as the easiest move on the 1st page despite the fact i can already do some of the others) it also gives acts as a nice little bump cos people have been inquiring about harder moves. if you're reading this for the first time- there's alot of nice stuff in there although most of it has been discussed elsewhere. good luck! smile

OK.

I've read up to page 5, then I got dizzy and jumped to this page.

PLEASE PLEASE explain to me, what is Isolations, hyperloops, buzzsaw hyperloops and fountain.

I have a feeling I can do some of this, I just don't understand all the English poi language.

Please use "easy" English, if I wont understand I'll suicide.

I can do the reverse 5bit btb and then turn to a normal btb, I can also do a butterfly neckwrap from behind the head, also reversed.

I think I found myself some moves that might be jedi, although they aren't that hard.

Unnamed weave:

Spin one poi reverse, and one poi normal, and do a 3weave with them.

Superman 2weave:

Do a neckwrap and imediately raize your other hand, so that the poi will go behind your neck under your armpit, and move the neck and the hand very fast from side ti side so the poi will never leave those cool places. While the other hand is strait and keep painting the figure 8, and the other poi is moving with her, so you will have a 2 weave with a superman post, to get out of this turn around.

Your unnamed weave is a butterfly weave smile

Isolation - centre of rotation of the poi is halfway along the poi rather than at your hand.

Hyperloops - moves where the poi tangle together and then untangle.

Fountain - fwd weave -> rev weave -> windmill and back all in the wall plane so it goes round a big circle from the front.

but there's no windmill there dude - the windmill just gets you used to those in front of the facr circles.

you can see from jillings that in the upper half fountain, the clubs never pass behind the head as in a windmill.
there's just the 2 circles in front of the face on the transition from rev to fwd weave.

upper fountain is:
2 circles behind left shoulder -> 2 circles in front of face -> 2 circles behind right shoulder -> carry back to start position behind left shoulder.

but we can talk about it later when we actually have poi in our hands... wink
