This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

at flamouth i learnt:

the last remaining variation in mixing 2:1 bf waistwraps with longarm circles: longarm on front circles one side and 2:1 circles behind into the ww bit, then swap.

sketchy reverse isolated weave.

fountain with extra wrist circles (which i could already do) with longarm bits wherever possible (which i couldn't do until now).

constant 3ball flashes and a good few 5 ball flashes - above the head smile

slow(ish) 5b cascade (b22).

and i finally got round to sorting out antispin flowers ubbrollsmile

square glidey thing referred to as the 'true moonwalk'.

i failed to learn:

any contact staff move that exits into my hand (they all go in lovely and then fall off when i can't see the stick any more).

5b cascade above the head.

antispin weaves mad (how does that monkey do it?!??!)

stupid things i shouldn't have tried:

suicide falls - i.e. falling flat on your face on purpose.
i got close but its not good for your wrists.
or your clothes.
and falling back up is definitely impossible.

I learnt a flower variation from a windmill!

all I need now is a bit more coordination to sort some more variations out without doing the "hit in the face" variety!

Does anyone know anything about Boleadoras or bolas?? A type of percussion thingy from Argentina that are used as poi, they feature in Cirque du Soliel- Saltimbanco. I'm interrested in trying a new style of poi so if anyone can help, let me know.

Forgot that I bastardised the wibble and invented the ibble. Basically a wibble but only 180 degrees not 360.

Unfortuantly I think it is always this way for me. The more I learn the more I find there is to learn! Which is good cause I reckon I'd get boerd with stamp collecting pretty Quickly.

This is very basic by most of your standards, but I'm excited about it, so I'm posting it anyway. This week I learned waist wraps and horizontal buzzsaw with transitions to corkscrew! (And, on a completely unrelated note, today I learned to walk around and twirl in circles with a hoola hoop! People do fire hoola hoop - although not me, yet - so I claim this is on topic. And I'm excited about it, so I don't care.)

2 beat butterfly weave smile

Got my flowers down properly this weekend and with turning as well - hurrah for a bit of sunnier weather so I can use my garden!

Now for antispin - gah. It's like being a beginner all over again - somehow both my poi always end up in the same direction and I've no clue how they got that way! ubblol

and since I keep posting off topic...

I've started holding the chain of the other poi after I wrap one around my wrist during weaves and continue spinning until I want to unwrap - kind of inner circle and outer circle stuff.
redface not sure what these are called confused2 keep mixing up terms anyways ubbrollsmile biggrin
