in other news, I have searched far and wide (ok I searched the internet for like five minutes) and have come to the conclusion there is no such thing as a cheap practice contact staff. I guess it's off to the hardware store for me...

Get a dowel rod maybe 5 feet in length (depends on how tall you are), athletic grip tape, and some rubber tubing (for the ends).

I'm working on spinning sticks behind my back, but I'm not winning yet... except for right now, because I win.

I'm working on wheel plane antispin flowers, a goal of mine since I started poi... we're getting there! I can do them in a couple of different modes but they are very wobbly at the moment, and I can't turn between them yet. so I'm... uh... half-winning, I guess?

I'm working on wheel plain flowers with devil sticks too. Also been a goal of mine since I started learning poi.
My stick flowers are a little bit better than my poi flowers, oddly enough.
I guess that means that my sticks win.
