In hyperlights video of testing the mark2's the guy uses an air stall, throing them up in the middle, straight above his head, from coming in from a reverse butterfly, then yank them down and back round.

loved it, tried it last night got it working straight off, jsut need to tidy it up a bit (pull down faster is all that's needed I think)

I've an urge to call it a 'depth charge', 'dropplet' would nearly suit it perfectly but it't not big enough , does it have a name?

yakumo - its some kind of inverted stall.

If you do them spinning same direction one goes up and one goes down - they meet in the middle - it looks cooooool

Nailed antispin buzzsaw flowers the other day. My normal buzzsaw flowers are still pretty poor though.
And Ive been wibbling a bit as well as getting a couple of stands.
Also been playing with lockout and longarm stuff. One day I will manage to do a flower with one arm and a flat long arm with the other (from a side view it would be a flower in a big circle).

Had a bit of obsurd flailing with Tobi at the weekend trying to work out straight jackets. Failed miserably and nearly ended up with facial bruising

    I just learned butterfly!

Only my second day out with my poi too.

I can't seem to comprehend any other move yet. I tangle strings on 3 beat weave and take out my kneecaps/head on low turn.

    Any tips?

Well, I can't do it properly yet... But tonight I nailed my first 6bt weave...

Interestingly enough, it was somehow the 4beat reverse weave I learned earlier tonight which led to me understanding the 6bt weave... Wicked... Well I think it was anyways.

Now I only need to do 5bt reverse weave... And try to make sure I know 6bt weave for sure, then I will tackle 7bt weave... Altho, I don't like the weaving beyond 5... It's to much hassle. to little freedome I think.

Also smoothed out my 5bt corkscrew alot =))

Been a bit of a busy doggie this weekend -
I've tackled overhead ttn, crossers, normal wallplanes, corkscrews and this move I made up, which I call an arc - starting in behind the head butterfly, into overhead butterfly then down into normal butterfly. Does that move have a proper name?

I've managed a very shaky reverse weave as well.

ummmm, I got a rather cool inverted semi inside buzzsaw thing.

I go from an inverted buzzsaw, taken to one side then I turn 90 degrees and bring the buzzsaw inside my left arm, in front of my right arm, then I flip it so it's inside my right arm, in front of my left arm...

    Does that make any sense?

it's like the horizontal buzzsaw combination, but inverted, vertical and half inside... :P

eh. u can do an overhead thread the needle but not a reverse weave? dont you mean antispin weave. I still cant get the hang of reverse ttn. can do normal fine though

No, just the plain old backwards weave!
I can sort-of do it, just not very well. Yet.

Actually, I struggle with doing anything backwards for some reason.

Just practice doing a 3 beat forward weave, throw in a lap of a 5 beat weave. if you only do one side, you wind up switching hands that is leading, so try to do both sides of the body with a 5 beat. if you lead with your right hand, i suggest practicing leading with left hand before attempting. otherwise you will probably get hit. a lot. but it starts to look really cool if you can do a 3 beat weave, switch in a set of 5 beat, and then go back to 3 beat.

I saw you doing the up/down stall thing at Play before seeing your post on it here Seye

I sure wouldn't like to be trying to learn straight jackets, fake or otherwise, with those aerotech poi you made...

    @Play I learnt :

    antispin weave fw and bw,
    a suicide,
after much practice on my own finally started getting btb 3 beat weave turns from btb fw to btb bw so I can go both ways now.
    Various stalls
    Giant windmills
    Isolated 3 beat weaves
The 'run round the field screaming with your burning poi streaming behind you' (Late for a Play fire show special)
    Alternate butterfly

stuff to work on (I know how now, just need more practice) :
    btb waist wraps,
    whip catches,
    air wraps
    hyperloops
5 beat isolated weave (I think),
    club swingers nightmare &
some of bluecats other insaine tricks I can't remember the names of

so happy with my new sock poi, ta Jazza

oh, and 9 section whip & rope dart but that's not poi

At Play I learned BTB reverse weave to BTB forwards weave. Yeah baby!! 5 bt corkscrew, 3bt isolated weave, putting isolations in a 5 bt weave, shaky antispin flowers and some basic wraps, stalls and an airwrap. Yipee! And although it's not techically a poi move, how to sound engineer a 9 piece ska band. Woohoo!

What's a BTB crossover weave? Is it a crosser weave (huggie) but BTB? I don't think my arms bend that way

I finally got a clean antispin weave and an almost clean antispin long arm weave (thanks Imbalance). Also getting close to a clean antispin flower. It's weird how all of a sudden the antispin stuff just started to click.

Landed a few new butterfly air wraps last night and a same time butterfly inversion.

Thats right. Its a huggie (cross over weave) but behind the back. You really need to bend your arms and now I almost got the turn to reverse crossover weave BTB :P

What is a longarm antispin weave? I got the antispinchase 100% now and the turn to reverse antispin weave. Damn everythjing is just flowing when the sun is shining

    Keep on the good spinning!

Imbalance describes the long arm antispin weave in the "antispin weaves?" thread. It takes quite a bit of isolation to make it clean but with full antispin it looks very nice.

    recently added to the list:
    • double bicep wraps (wall plane split time weave style)
    • long arm antispin weave (see antispin weave thread)
    • finaly clean hyperloops both ways, and outside-outside forward hyperloops
    • up/down stalls. poi spinning same direction in wall plane, one stalls going down while other stalls going up (at the same time) pull hard and reverse it and stall them again the other way.
    • huggies, butterfly and weave both ways. turning with all of em.
    • 2 hand spiral wraps.
    • barrel rolls both ways
    • clean weave/buzzsaw isolations!!

been practicing with just my HOP socks for the past few weeks and things just come together. can do em all with fire poi also though, but the hyperloops are still a lil shoddy cuz of chain slippage
