Umm, reallly?

Ok, I was thinking about seeing if the Michigan Renaissance Festival might hire me, so I checked out what they normally get, because I've never seen fire any of the times I've been (every year). And apparently this is their norm considering fire poi. I was shocked to say the least.

look similar, but they're all about the rhythms you can make with them, not the patterns.

If that's their norm for fire performance I'd say you've got a shot.

I'm certain you can put on a show and still make the fun attention grabbing noises.

Yeah, I could probably. But now that I realize, those are like fire snakes with balls on the end to smack the ground.

My friend said one of her mom's friends works for the Renaissance Fair and they have a few poi people. So I decided to look at it, and this is as close as I could get. So if this isn't it, than apparently no one in the fair uses cameras if this is all I could find.

Eh, most performers (and I don't want to sound rude) perform only easy feats at things like Renn Faires. I know plenty of talented people who use only one small portion of their potential to entertain... how can I say.... Non.... performers?

I also don't want to sound rude here, I do think the whole boleadora thing is pretty cool, as poi hitting you may be annoying but these hitting you would hurt (check out some videos, they spin 'em fast when they get 'em going), but I think it's a little gimmicky to add fire to anything to make it cooler... But... I guess for an audience, it's what's required.

Fire sells. I have nothing AGAINST fire performing, I just think alot of people spend too much time with fire sometimes and not enough time learning first.

Hurrm. You may not like what they already have but i'm pretty sure ragging on one of there regular performers publicly is not a very good move if you wanna get hired.

No problem, now that I know it was those thing making the sounds I think that's pretty cool. I thought he was like tap dancing with firesnakes or something to be honest.

And why not perform your best for people? When I perform I either zone out, which usually leads to the best flow-wise, or put my all into it which normally makes it more energetic.

And too many people do spend too much time with fire before learning enough and it bothers the hell out of me as I see it as disrepecting the fire.

And Electric, yeah, but I'm not telling it to them am I I'm not even sure about their policies travel-wise yet. I just thought it was ridiculous because I thought those were fire snakes.

I thought he was tap dancing with fire snakes too, to be honest. I also thought that that was far too simple of a performance (though it may not be the whole thing).

Eh, with what I've seen there in my lifetime. I'm not surprised actually. Although I've never seen a fire performance there, odd? But yeah, my views definitely changed a lot now that I'm one of those people that perform.

i respect the concept of boleadoras but if he's strapping full size fire ropes to them and his ability to do even a figure 8 is that sketchy he's gonna hurt himself...

Here's someone that puts his all into it, this is really cool. It is really not a fire thing though I must say.

All of poi changes when the bottom of the poi is intentionally hitting things. I would imagine "plane control" is a bit iffy with boleadoras.

I'd be afraid of even attempting to spin those... I have hit myself in the 'fun zone' enough with poi.

I don't mind ragging on that first guy. His performance was insulting to me. I don't think it's that hard to add fire to just about anything. I use to play up a rhythm with my glow sticks for kicks and I didn't see anything I didn't learn to do in a day.

Wow, I haven't been to a Fun Zone since I was a kid. I'm surprised they let you practice there.... Oh... wait.... THAT fun zone.... Yeah. I'm not sure if Poi to the Crotch is what they meant when they said "No pain, no gain".
