New HOP Logo

Hi all,

As of today we have introduced our new logo in a black color to the current website (top left corner).

Our New Website is still a few months away from being completed.

However all our cards and invoices do contain the new logo. So to remove any confusion and also create confusion we decided to start you getting used to the shape of the new logo.

So yeah, there it is

if the new website is coming up, is it going to affect the boards at all?

i think i liked the old one more, but i can see that the change is slick and definitely more practical.

I miss the colour though... also looks vaguely like the title of a period drama with the "of" in a different font.

Exactly... which would suit something as serious as "Crawshay's of Christchurch" but I can't quite associate it with how fun I know "Home of Poi" to be.

I can see why it's more practical and I won't rule out it growing on me, but right now I hate it

What sort of move do you call that shape anyway?

Miss the Colour? We had to remove the colour as it clashed with the current site too much. I am colour blind and it was really bad for my eyes with a light blue background.
The letters and swirl are white and orange on the dev site.

New site has a different board/forums we are currently testing importing all users and posts into the system. We still have a fair way to go.

We've been working on the dev site for almost a year.
It will be a change for many and it will help the site grow in a more structured platform.

I think it may be improving the tone of the place a bit much

Makes me feel like I should talk more like a proper grown up. It's very nice, it's just serious, which is not something I really associate with poi..

Clear your cached data and the new one will magically appear, poje.

I'm not a big fan of the new logo. But I'll probably get used to it after a while...

ya i agree. looks more like a restaurant logo than a firespinning website.

that being said - us on the forum are notoriously resistant to change, but then we forget what the old version looked like after a couple of months...

I prefer the white on black that's showing right now to the black on whatever it was yesterday

are all boarders going to be yellow? what colour will text be? i'm not a fan of yellow on white, i find it hard to see.

Have to admit it looks better white on black and I do prefer the red "of"

I think I would prefer it if you shifted the emphasis from the text to the logo; the text is a bit characterless (pun intended) but the logo is pretty nice (albeit not directly representative of any of the multitude of poi geometric shapes that are now so popular but I guess you don't want to be Playpoi right?).

If the logo was 2-3 times the size and the HOP text proportionately smaller I think it would be much sexier and a whole lot more interesting

i like Mr Chutneys suggestion, perhaps even the Logo encircling the name? it does seem somewhat insignificant compared to the words.

IMO, the black bar at the top is too dark. I would have picked a lighter shade of black

Personally, I'm not keen on serif fonts on a screen, also the new colour scheme seems a bit off to me - maybe have it reflecting the colour of the green/red flames?

However, it's hard to comment until you see the full picture - when you take something out of context it's harder to understand it.

But agree with Chutters - logo encircling title for teh win!

Yes you'll have to wait a we while before we have something ready for a bunch of you to do some beta testing.
Being so badly colour blind I am doing my best to keep things easy to read.
For those that do not know already we are using Drupal for everything bar the shop. With lots of special programmes here and there to make this work.
