I do some meteors but I try to do it with my spotter only. I tend to stick to triditional fire meteors rather than kevlar wicked ones. (triditionaly fire meteors are just two bowls filled with fule teathered together with rope or chain.) Because of this I'd rather not take the risk of putting others in danger just in case I do accually happen to mess up.

I've been doing meteor for exactly a week and 2 days! I've done a bit of poi before and just like everyone has said... it doesn't help. But I'm getting better at meteor I nailed a HUGE butterly throw on sunday! I was with my friends and I said "Ok I've never pulled off a throw before but I'm gonna give it a go." I threw it from a two handed butterfly it went HIGH it came down and I brought it into a one handed butterfly. It made my day, it really did.

I just got my meteors a while ago, and I think I'm getting the hang of them - a bit different to poi, but I'd love to learn more wraps or throws. Right now I'm either doing really basic stuff, or just flailing, enjoying it and hoping I don't end up strangled or bashed up.
Anyways, if there are any meteor twirlers in the Melbourne area, I'd love to hear from you

Hi lindalinda... It's always nice to meet a new meteorist (they call us crazy, but we'll show them! Mwahahahaha! Haha! Ha.). For good videos, there are a few gems on youtube. After a minute or so of near-random searching (and half an hour of watching) I found this playlist, some awesome stuff on there. Where abouts in China did you learn? Were the lessons circus-based or martial arts-based?

Well, look at poi and staff moves and see what you can use from there. I am sure new stuff will come up at some stage....

If you are looking for something new to try out with meteors, there's a series of youtube videos with Chris Bailey (Rovo) demonstrating several concepts he's developed with double meteors. Double meteor is sick fun! He brings in a lot of inspiration from different toys that goes beyond traditional Chinese meteor. If I can find the link again, I'll tag in in here. the videos are from Rovo's workshop at FireDrums 09. They were posted up on this person's channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/donteatgrandma

Pretty interesting videos - does anyone have the video of the guy doing contact meteor? I think it was set under a road bridge.
