Cue childish laughing at the post title hur hur hur smile

Basically, what I'm looking for are some longer versions of these:
http://store.falkiners.com/store/category/66/240/Bookbinding-Screw-Posts/

They will need to be about 35-40mm tall. I've got a load of rope wick on the way for a new staff and I'm wanting to use these for decent attachments, rather than the usual screw into wooden core design, so they need to be long enough to go through 2 layers of 12.5mm rope and my tubing.

Other thing would be diameters of the tube and if it would be possible to put a hole the right size right through my wooden core, but I'll work that out when I've bought a few, might be able to replace the core with something else.

Not an answer as such, but I was wondering who "Long Screw" is. tongue

Doubt that anything I can find will help you though. Good luck.

i know screw posts are neat, and look very attractive, but they are definately not heavy duty. They are, after all, only meant to hold pages in bindings like photo albums.
Being honest, i'd reccomend some decent short coach bolts, they may not look quite as neat, but they'll secure your wicks well, and are easy to tighten/undo when changing wick. who really looks at your wicks anyway? you can't exactly see bolts when they're lit!

Haha wrote my reply then before actually looking at a coach bolt. Oops.

But yeah thinking about it they will work just fine - I was worried about the end sticking out from the wick but to be fair metal heats up and will burn you either way if you come into contact with it.

Thanks for the help guys smile

you should be able to either get a short coach bolt, or trim a longer one down. That way it shouldn't stick out from your wick too much. The one piece of advice i'd give if you're going with this method, is to check that the nuts are tightened up often. You don't want your wick coming undone whilst spinning, or at all for that matter!

Just a point, next time I'm at a Manc meet, i'll show you the ones I've just made with HoP Wick. They're stitched and have no core at all.
