If people want to come and there are enough on a list I'm sure we can sort something out. I just got the impression that everyone had sorted something else to do on this weekend.

This option is high on my list, a definate possible for me and a couple of others.

Looking at getting a Megabus to Cardiff, then something like train to swansea, then a bus or a lift if possible. Could get a train to Swansea, but tis more expensive but probably more comfortable and fast.

Yeah, mega bus will definitely be cheaper than a train all the way.

I'm still up for it, not least because I've just bought my first set of fire snakes

The weather looks like it might be a bit better than first expected - if not much - but it doesn't look like it's going to be a washout

I'll be having a chat with Jake over the weekend about the options. He arrives Tuesday morning, so we'll probably be at the Rag Factory that evening.

BTW - I heard on the radio today, that sales of tents and campsite bookings are up 10% on last year. Best not leave it too late if you're travelling Thursday

According to Google Maps, there's a railway line out of Swansea, which runs north-west to a place called Gowerton. There are some busses from there to Llangennith, but the last one is at 15:19.

Ok how many people are we talking about coming?

Anyone else coming by train/bus PM me and I'll see what I can do about lifts from the stations.

I've got a 3 seater van so am happy to transport kit + 2 people if someone can do people, though I am unable to attend on the Wednesday and Thursday (23rd and 24th) due to work commitments.

Im just about to leave for the Beacons for a couple of days and hope to get to Llangennith probably Wednesday.
If i dont get to a computer between now and then i hope to see some of you later in the week.

We're travelling up on Thursday and are intending to stay at Hillend. If all goes to plan, we'll be pitched before midday.

I've only got a two-seater with a small boot, but can help with transfers if anyone gets really stuck

We have been down to Hillend today and it was looking glorious in the sunshine, but be warned that most of the time it is quite windy there so a few wind breaks wouldn't go a miss on the beach, up past the dunes in the campsite isn't so windy but on the beach it is... as the many kite boarders and buggy riders were proving today as they sped up and down the beach.

There is a surf school running most weekends with wet suit and board hire, so if you want to learn or just can't be bothered to bring your own you'll be fine.

The shower block and loos have been re-built/refurbished since I was last there and today they were spotless and the water was hot. There is an on site restaurant for those that don't want to cook... not sure what the food is like.

The roads to get down there from Swansea are "rural" and you may very well meet on coming traffic that has nowhere to get out of the way or a flock of sheep on the road, so take it easy if you are driving. Beware the GIANT tourist coaches. They take up most of the road.

Will think about trying to get to Hillend for Thursday for a guaranteed pitch. It sounds very popular for surfing but do 400 pitches over 14 acres really fill up of a weekend? Sounds like a festival in itself

You'd be surprised.We were there yesterday afternoon and witnessed people packing up to leave after a weekend there and it was pretty full. I'm sure we'll be ok. Jon and I have an 8 man tent so if anyone does show up and can't get their tent pitched, I'm sure we can fit them in our tent and just pay an extra charge for the extra person in the tent.
