Just out of interest does anyone here play the Musical Saw?

I have wanted to learn to play for a very long time but i never found the right kind of saw, Untill today when my cousin found one that is just right for me Yay!!!

I have only had a little chance to play it so far and i can get the odd note out even if it does sound like a cat being strangled.

Any who back to practicing for me

I'd never heard of this before in my life...
Then I searched for it on youtube...

That's utterly brilliant!!
Is it literally just a normal saw?

Ooooh....let me check with a friend of mine who has taken it up. I bet she has some kickin' resources for you.
It's wicked cool and odd.

Ooo that would be fab Pele.
I got given a video with a bit of a lesson on it but unfortunatly it is in the american format so i can't play it on my vcr but i'm working on getting it converted.

Skatto, Yup you can actually play most saws but some are harder than others.

The one i was given is a saw that was designed with the properties that make it good to play so yeah it is still technicaly a normal saw. The big diferance is that you can get more octives out of a musical saw than you can out of some of the other ones plus they are a bit easyer to bend.
