I can only do a lazy mans crack whip lying on floor behind you, slowly raise arm a little, and snap it down, was doing it yesterday with an 8 ft fire whip

IN my dreams . I am off to a medieval weekend at Balingup. A stones throw from the other lovely places down south.

But he smiles and cracks a whip with attitude, as well as moving. Thats up there with belly dancing without watching your feet and smiling

So off to make a lariat are we Rob? It spins and makes circles and imagine that on fire. Yum

Apparently last year there was a whipcracker who just about took bits off people as she made space for herself.

Will keep my eyes out for people down there.

From wikepedia I just use both words interchageably. I dont think lassos ever took off in Aust like whips. Our horse saddles arent designed for it like the western saddles with the horn. The stock saddles here can have huge pads to keep you in but not big horn.

A lasso is a loop of rope that is designed to be thrown around a target and tighten when pulled. It is a well-known tool of the American cowboy. The word is also a verb; to lasso is to successfully throw the loop of rope around something. When referring to the entire length of rope used, before or after a loop is formed, the rope itself is more properly called a lariat. Many cowboys simply call it a "Rope."

Heres a website with stuff

lariat

I've just been watching Mike Murphy's No bull whipcracking DVD and it seems that the wierd crack is indeed a victorian cutback.
I just don't do it very elegantly

victorian cutback appears to be a crack to the side, but yours is more down... and it's done both sides alternately... which is way cool. I guess they are the same, just different orientations.

Yeah, I'm getting a bit annoyed at the similarity between cracks with wildly different names.

The victorian cutback (at least on the dvd I was watching) is almost identical to a coachman's crack, which is almost identical to a forward loop crack, which is almost identical to a tasman cutback.
The only differences seem to be positioning and a small timing tweak.

I don't mind, the tasmanian cutback is really a series of three cracks I reckon, not just a BTB cattlemans. It's more like a figure of eight in wheel plane and then a plane change into btb wall plane for the cattlemans.

I think the victorian cutback looks the same as most other direction change cracks, it kinda has to, but the hand motion to do it is wildly different. There's only really three cracks, but I thick the cutback might almost be a fourth.
