I hope to enter this. But my only worry is how recognisable do the landmarks have to be.

Would a shot of a famous landmark be chosen over a lesser known one?

Or will the photographs be judged soley on photographic qualities.

I know it says that they don't have to be that famous, but I just want to make doubley sure.

thanks!

Check out pics from http://imakokode.org/ to get some inspiration. From the pic on the left you can find 'photos' on one of the tiles.. A lot of nice shots from nice locations. And most annoying thumbnail scrolling ever.

Hey all, took some drunken (well tipsy!!! safety first!) pictures a couple weeks ago, because you can only see the fire and shapes in the I dont think they will qualify for wonderful locations to do poi!! (unless "in the dark" is a good location!!) But I would love to hear any feedback on them at www.myspace.com/robloonampoi

Peace everyone, and hugs too!

to be as pedantic s an insurance company, doesn't that mean no fire spinning at all?

I have some awesome pics from when I went on a stones tour , but nothing with spinning in as I was behind the camera on my own

I've tried and tried to use gimp, and gimpshop, and it's just way too limiting compared to psh. I think I preferred 6 over 7 because of line tools and some other things, but there's too many useful things in cs2 to go back to either, and I like what I've used of cs3.

I always prefer photo's untouched though, and think they should be for competition, if there's grain, or balance or retouch issues they won't count against it in the comp, and would (should) be done by a pro before they hit print.

It's not that we've been slack or anything, but we have had a lot of things on the go so the entry portal is still not done
*hangs head in shame*

We will have it up within a few weeks, maybe earlier.

Out of interest, what's with the Draconian rules on post-processing? I can understand you not wanting entirely fabricated photoshop flames, but - only cropping allowed? What, so no noise reduction, not even a little boost in contrast allowed? There are a lot of adjustments which are necessary for enhancing the image, especially when you're photographing flames at nighttime, I was just wondering why they're not allowed?

right, so today I got a few pictures (and odd looks) doing cone poi on the great wall. I have 2 fire pics from yangshuo that I'd consider entering, and tomorrow, I'm going to try for Tian'amen square and the forbidden city.

The daylight pics aren't particularly artsy, but its got the basic criteria down

Hi all,

Please accept our apologies for the huge delay in getting this up and running, but now, the competitions entry portal is up and running (and we extended the deadline a little).

The way it works is that once the voting date is reached, voting will be automatically enabled. You can vote for every single entry you like if you want - there is no restriction on the number of votes you can cast - except you can only vote once for each entry you like.
People who are late, or join after the voting starts, will still be able to enter right up until the voting closes - they just won't have as long for their entry to be exposed to receive votes as those who enter before voting starts.

Check it out at the "Competitions" tab, or
go here

I've seen some pretty awesome photo's that some of you have sent us, so we are waiting with anticipation for some really classy shots to appear! So now, over to you!

Apparently the 12th? That unfortunately only gives people who don't check the site often about two weeks to get entries in.

I submitted one and may try for another :]

entries accepted right up until close of voting - but if your entry is there when the voting starts you increase your chances of getting more votes.

And depending on how many entries are received by 12th, we might delay the start of voting due to the late arrival of the entry portal. I was kinda working on the principal that most people knew the competition and would be ready to roll about now so we would be flooded with entries as soon as the portal went up.
We'll see how it goes.

PS Hi Kael! How's Chiang Mai?
