Evening. How goes stuff and/or things?

OK I’ve already emailed quite a few people about this. But it’s been pointed out to me, by several lovely HoP people, that I should post it on here and get your help too

I bet you're wondering why I’ve gathered you all here. So I'll cut straight to the chase. No beating around the bush for me. Nope. Definitely not. I'll get right to it. You'll be alarmed at just how fast I get to the subject. "Whoo, that was fast!" You'll exclaim. That’s how fast it'll be. One second we'll be here talking of stuff and things, next we'll be right on the subject. Like a flash. Quick as anything...
Erm what was I talking about?

Oh right, the point.
Well a few weeks ago I entered one of my paintings in an art competition. 1st prize to get said painting on the cover of an art supplies catalogue that gets mailed to thousands or, possibly even dozens, of people all over the place. Plus the winner also gets £100 worth of art materials. Which I could really do with....

Now I've never entered my stuff into anything before, because, well you all know what I’m like. I have no confidence in my abilities. But on a whim (although I did put it off for a good many months) I sent in my bush baby painting. Didn't really think I stood a chance etc, etc...

So on Saturday morning, I was really, really surprised to get a letter from them saying that my painting had been shortlisted. And that it will be on display on their website for people to vote for until 20th August

Well anyway, I was wondering, if it wasn't too much trouble, could you go to the site and vote for my painting? It says that you can pick your top 3. And all of them can be examined closely by clicking on them. It's up to you what you vote for really. Obviously I'd prefer it if you picked mine for 1st choice. But it's entirely up to you.

Ok the address for the shortlist is:

And mine is the bush baby one:

and can be found on the 6th line down, 4th one along, just under *sobs* my real name(!) - So (for some of you) worth voting just to find that out I reckon
Thank you muchly in advance of your good deed.

Oh and to those that have already voted, you’re the most wonderful people on the planet. But then you already knew that I think

I voted for you Cantus. Maybe it was the fact that I've seen that painting on HoP several times, but it stood out moreso than all the other entrants. Even the Daleks.

I like the Daleks one too. And the effalump one. And the street scene that looks like a photo...

And well they're all really quite good aren't they?

i agree they are all good, the ones which stood out for me though (out of the others ) was the night harbour view, and the abstract one done by mark sheeky

Mark Sheeky? *Goes to look* Oh right that one. I felt that one was kinda muddied and slightly over complicated. But each to their own and all that

Oh me too Aimée I thought that was gorgeous, I was going to vote for thew other horse one (the one with two of them) but when I took a closer look they didnt look right, too smoothly drawn.

Second vote went too you cantus, and whats wrong with that name, is it just too normal for you too like?

Well your bush baby was an easy first choice for me, I love looking at your pics, especially that one. I found it quite hard to vote for another two....so many of them just seemed a bit flat or soulless. I suppose looking at artwork on a computer screen isn't the best thing really.

Cantus did you meet Carol Childs at Gwithian this year (or maybe you knew her already)? If you like the photographic style stuff you may want to check out her website www.carolchilds.co.uk

Good luck with the competition

Vote has been cast!

The Bush Baby has always been cute...! Very expressive eyes...

I'm guessing the Dalek was was painted pre-"ELEVATE!"

It's a good job that they're unlikely to look at their web server logs.

If they checked the bit about referring pages, they'd see a whole load of people coming to their site from 'http://www.homeofpoi.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=680076', and then all voting the same

Thankfully us geeks are a rare breed

James ( ) is merely advertising the competition...

...and the fact that he is in it...

...and the fact you should vote for him...

...and that if you dont, he'll come and get you...

...or did I read to much into the first post?
