Lol...

Heard from Aerotech today...

They're only stopping production of the old staff because the new Ultimate one is going to be available in a couple of months (apparently).

This one will have replacable components, be fully programmable and capable of 16 million colours

Hurrah.

Ultimate staff? We'll be the judges of that. Sounds groovy though. And now I can tease Nate that his isn't good enough. Woohoo!

She said it wouldn't cost more (or rather, 'much' more) than the old ones.

More time for me to fill in funding applications

huh, they told me a year... at least, before they even start on the ultimate staffs...they are only starting on the clubs now and will be moving onto the balls after. given their history... as cole said above... a few months would be hoping for a alot... especially if they have to dicontinue production of the the staffs now, in order to devote enough resources to development...

funding is for hippies...

Nate had his staffs up for sale a while ago. Not sure if he sold them though.

What Aerotech website says :

 Written by:

Aerotech projects is temporarily ceasing to make staffs in the current design.

Reasons for change.

1. Products are out of date, the new ultimate technology is ready to be transferred into the staff.
2. Over 75% of current staff owners look after the batteries by always making sure they are not left in a discharged state. Unfortunately 25% don’t. All parts will be now be made replaceable, thereby negating the need to return the product to Aerotech for repair.
3. Current staffs are bespoke products, custom built to clients’ specifications, which makes the products labour intensive and unstockable.

I think they are gradually adapting their products to the new ultimate technology. First clubs (£250 each, ouch) maybe poi soon good news is the fact that you can repair it by yourself and change battery. Unfortunately I imagine this won't change anything with globalls. These props are magical anyway

there are no meteors listed on their website any more.

i am worried that they are planning to only develop the poi and discontinue the meteors...

ah dont worry milka. i dont think i could possibly be sad. i just have a habit of indulging in a bit of buyers remorse. i bought a new drum two weeks ago, you should seen me then.

So in light of furry's new info i called aerotech again and talked to the nice lady.

So the party line on the new staffs has changed from being at least a year to.

and i quote

'more than a month and less than a year'

this is fair enough i guess. they dont know exactly how long its gonna take to get them out the door and they dont want to let people down by committing to an exact date.

and there are some sweet options for ugrades for anybody lucky enough have bought one within the last year.

so now im going to sit happily and wait for my brand spankin new sticky glowy sticks to sail in the door.

this is possibly the most exciting thing thats happened to me all year!!!

can anyone say 'Renegade'

See you in cork milka. I'll show you exactly how cute i am
