Had a read, they certanly started it with good ideas / intensions......... But i think due to lack of "input" it hasnt really grown at all........ I think if you are going to make something like this work, you need alot of input from people all over before you commit yourself to calling it "a monthly" magazine..... otherwise it will quickly fade into the abyss that is the web.......

i didnt makeit i just found it!
but i thought the same, a little low on the ground
main problem will be motivating people with deadlines, who already have jobs and ful time commitments to go and write and artice for you, on dead line, and not get any reward back...ie financial or discount....

well for founding why not have a pre pay system for the first one.Something like 1.50 to book ur first mag. I think people will help out if you ask. After all we all want spinning to become more than it is...if that makes sence. mike.c

eh... i think a pre-pay system would crash and burn, personally. people would be more eager to pay teh year's subscription in my opinion. they would just forget about a 1.50 prepay deal

How many people actually go to a regular firey session at least once or twice a month? I know that i do try to get down as much as i can. If you really want this to work you should get one distributor from each state that has a half decent show of fireys. That way the distributor can also work on getting them into newsagencys.
But what are you going to do about advertisment? If the magazine is Australian based and you have advertisement from Juggleart in Melbourne, someone who reads it in the US wouldnt give a crap about it.
I have got an idea. Get the articles together, pictures all of that crap then make different advertisement sections for different Countries. ie. US, Australia, UK and any other places you can get advertisements. That way people who are traveling from Australia to UK know where some shops are. Also try to get all the gatherings in it as well.
Maybe look for investors if the grant isnt enough. I wouldnt mind putting up a lil bit of money as an investor and i think that you would find alot of other people willing to do the same.
Honestly i think it is a great concept and if there is anything i can do to help then pm me.
Maybe instead of a firey magazine you should maybe look at making it a circus magazine with firey stuff in it. Your goal is to get the word out to as many people as possible and if it has more than just firey then it would be a great way of getting more people interested.
Its just some ideas. Im behind it though.

Maybe because here spinning isn't so much associated with festivals and raves as it is with beaches!!

We've already got a stack of research on this, but more along the idea of an Alternative Lifestyle Magazine, focusing more on FyreDance, Drumming and the underground scene.
It's my brothers project, and he should be getting something up and running within the next few months.
It's fairly localised, but from what he's been talking about, he's looking at expanding the idea to an international level. The initial response to the concept has been surprisingly very good, but weather it actually works will remain to be seen!
