Hay guy's, yes fire happens EVERY SUNDAY from now on.

Might try something like 'Big Night Every First Sun of the Month' …or something
This would give people with limited time / energy a good night to aim for but still have a regular night for dedicated firies. (With end of exams and good weather setting in every week will be big soon – but a night to go all out on would be especially fun)

Poll it up baby - What do people think? If yes is the first sun of the month best or are we clashing with something?

come summer, the zillions of hiberanated twirlers will be more noticed than ever. Having a n establised, convenient Big Burn will consolidate itself.
It'll all come down to good weather and personal convenience.
personally, i've moved house to within a short drive away from the 3 palm trees, so it's only a matter of me being able to walk on sunday afternoons is the issue!!

ps housewarming at my house this friday night - pm me if you have an urge to go play and for god's sake someone inform cassandra!!

Moving house so it's closer to a twirling venue. Now that's dedication!

Hey all,

I'm new to HoP. I live in Melbourne and was if the thingy in Alexandra gardens is on every sunday regardless of the weather. You all know wat melbourne is like, u cant tell wat its going to do.

Another thing, does it really matter what skill type you are at. Ive been doing Staff for aprox. 6 months now and know most of the basics.

Thnx,
Jai

It occurs every Sunday regardless of the weather. Obviously if its pouring very few, if any people might show up.
It certainly doesn't matter what skill level you are. We have the whole spectrum of skill levels attending. and... if you need tips there are plenty of people willing to share their knowledge.

On another note, I can't attend this week or next due to work reasons. Cant wait to fire up my new monkey fists when I get back.

I bought them actually from HOP. I've seen them made but I couldn't be bothered. They soak up so much fuel but burn for soo long. I don't recommend them if you haven't got a reasonable repetoir of tricks to cycle through. They're heavy as well. I love the weight, but many wouldn't.
I've also got a meteor with massive monkey fist rope ends (4 inch heads). Geez they're hard (density that is) though. Watch out if your just learning. Or even if your not.
I had a big experimental session with the meteor and the new poi heads yesterday with Jo. I've got the shin bruises to show from it. Maybe it's because I like to do a lot of weird between the leg variations.
I would advise anyone who is using a meteor (maybe just crap people like myself) to employ the use of a cricket protector. It's only saved me a couple of times, but that's more than enough for it to be value for money.

Hay Firie People

Things have been starting at 5pm on Sun thanks to the suave Ataxia; However...

With his absence for the next few weeks and upcoming Daylight savings, things are likely to kick off a little later from now on . Don't let this discourage you if you have a zest to be there early and play but if it's your first time coming I surest you rock up a little later or you might be on your own . 7 - 8pm is ususally when a reasonable amount of people start showing up, and it's busiest at about 9.30-10pm

Note the early start IS A GOOD IDEA - and is there for people who want to learn by light or play with more Circusie / Juggling stuff - that said we have picked a spot with reasonable lighting so Circusie people come down and play too...anytime - we'd love to have more of you. That was part of the original idea when this location was selected 'Juggler Friendly...at least as far as an outside night location can be' (I can throw and catch a black Diablo there without much difficulty so it's not too bad )

See all you lovley peoples there

P.s Oh and yes just to reiterate - things happen every Sunday and everyone is welcome. Just pop in and say hi. Everyone's friendly and we'd love to meet you. Cheers & TTFN. D.

Yeah Tyr, beat me to the post.
Daylight savings starts this weekend (Sunday to be precise). So... clocks forward 1 hour. That means sunset will be roughly at 7.50pm from Sunday on.
Meeting at 7 will still give a bit of daylight time for those wanting to learn or doing circusy type stuff. eg contact, juggling, diabolo etc. The area is pretty well lit anyway.
