Jazz. Simple.
I've tried to poi to be-bop (charlie parker etc.) but it's too complex and i just get absorbed into the intricate winding melodies
...
some hard-bop is good for poi - art blakey & Jazz Messengers, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard ... some John Coltrane though really not the 'Free' stuff which is all over the place
...
but by far the best stuff to poi to is the swing stuff --- my personal preference being duke ellington "don't get around much anymore"
also singers like billie holiday, ella fitzgerald and sarah 'sassy' vaughan

yay for psytrance! i've been digging on stuff with a mathematical feel lately. skazi remix of 'i wish' is wicked to spin to. =) 'fibonachi sequence' off sasha's global underground works for me too. tool (especially 6/8 songs) is always good, ska makes me butterfly better somehow, d'n'b is like my heart moving blood through my veins -- 'black tarantula' is tearing me up right this moment... everything makes me want to spin actually. =)

no one seems to have mentioned any hip-hop? i liek spinning to a bit of hip-hop usually, i know its a bit odd, well atleast it seems to be after reading all the other posts, i just like the beats, can get nice synchro with beats and transitions...but i spose thats the same for any music type. liek someone said bafore, its whatever you like...i feel like a minority with the hip-hop tho...oh well...

Here's an odd one...I just started messing around with my CD collection, and for a more languid, bit sexier routine, I tried Enigma's Principles of Lust....turned out pretty groovy...hubby definately liked it

I listen to hip hop. but none of that cheesy American stuff. Uk Hiphop is the way forwards. Do not follow the others, they are false prophets.

havnt heard any UK hip hop, i mostly NZ hip hop and ok, just a smidgen of the the US stuff. i think the local music is usually good to spin to, wotever it is, i think it connects to the 'feel' of the place. ok, back to that essay im spose to be writing...or maybe i browse abit more....

i find any sort of dance music is great to spin to because of the way its built mainly a 4 -4 beat.......
although there are many genres i find that hard house and trance are great as that speed up and slow down which is great for spining
