Kyrian, I say that about the news people too...they all sound like they are from here! Funny! I pick up accents and dialects (yup, there is a *big* difference) very easily, and like Maeon, have run into people who think I am mocking them. My own dialect is quite the mish-mosh and so is not defined. (Oh.... Dialect is a form of our personal native language. For example...those of us who grew up speaking "English" do so with American, Australian and British dialects. An accent is what you have when you learn a language. For example, I speak Spanish with and American accent. Nomad and Cassandra speak wonderful English with beautiful French accents.) And as for how I read HoP...easy.... with a smile! ------------------ Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir... http://www.pyromorph.com [This message has been edited by Pele (edited 23 March 2002).]

Well, I'm told (Though I can't hear it myself...) I have a throughly "posh" accent, or am I just well spoken probably from living in Surrey for a while. I don't mind it really, can't wait to go to the US / Australia if the girls like it so much As for reading these posts - I just do it in my "inner voice" thing which I guess is how I think I sound

I read things in my own voice. However how you hear yourself is completely different to how you actually sound to other people. I really can't stand to hear my own voice! Mimicing other people's accents and mannerisms is a very common thing and is a natural social tool. It's a subconcious way to connect with the person you're talking to. Whenever I'm in Malta for sometime I pick up the Maltese accent and dialect from my family and then have to spend a couple of weeks in the UK readjusting. The Bill Hicks accent works for me! After growing up around the work I finally developed a Surrey accent, which is pretty easily exagerated into a generic Hollywood style British accent. Excuse me, post too long, I've got to go catch a flight to Denver....

I pretend that each post is being read by a huge choir of tiny tiny midgets who have all been inhailing helium Hey, I heard that midget tossing is still legal in Australia, is that true? [This message has been edited by SickpuPpy (edited 25 March 2002).]

For the HoP'iers who say that they don't mentally speak what they are reading, perhaps it's a case of not recognising what they've been doing all their lives. Like breathing or mocking David Hasselhoff, some actions are done so much they occur subconsciously. It's harder when the voices in your head are arguing tho. /puts down icepick. They tried to outlaw midget tossing in Germany, but the midgets signed a petition and stopped the bill going through. Half of them relied on midget tossing as a source of income... ------------------ Charles (AKA INFERNO) newdolbel@hotmail.com http://juggle.co.nz/fire/fire.html

Most of the midget being tossed are men, so that leaves women as the other half. If they are knee high already then they don't have to be on their knees, Cantus! For cleaning the low places in people homes! Geez...what were you people thinking? ------------------ Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir... http://www.pyromorph.com

I tend to read posts in many different accents - like a script. You all become crazy little characters in my head. I see you all in my head to, in funny costumes, and you all have different magical powers. Like PELE for instance, you have the power to combust at any given moment, vanish and reappear where ever you wish. Like, you become invisible, and you vanish leaving a black cloud of smoke. SPIRAL too (not that he's written on here but hey..) he is this mad spinning, whirlwind guy, with two, flaming poi's attatched to his beard, which are an attack/defence mechanism against evil people. Like CANTUS, he's not evil, but he flys around with these crazy sparkling wings - he breathes fire, much like a dragon, and he's pink and purple..... so yeah. I sort of make little cartoon type animations in my head of people having the conversation. Ofcourse, everyone has differnet voices too. However, for anyone who does this 'reading posts thing' in the senders accent - try mine: It's a mixture of WELSH, SCOTTISH and a tiny tiny bit of LANCASHIRE. There is your task.... Love Dibs xxx

Spiral is about 20ft tall as well, Dibs. Not sure about him being a whirlwind but he does have a lot of elbows....

I know he's a big giant!!! He told me today. I'm actually quite scared of him now. The funny thing is, when I pictured him as the whirlwindy thing, he actually grew to about 40ft. Foreboding or what? Thought you'd be quite big too cantus. Or slim. Cantus the dragon is quite long. I should draw all this and send it in! *Dibs runs to find her art equipment, will she return? who knows. Find out in the next episode*

This (if the link works) is what Cantus looks like: ------------------ C@ntus Music grows in the rose, rock and the rain and the blowing snowstorm, Everything seems to sing, everywhere I go, I say 1, 2 play me do, Let me sound as sweet as you, Play me wide, play me long, Let me be your song.
