How much fun was 2UberOz I had such a ball and met so many super awesome people, yourself included did you check out the pictures? There are a few great shots of you…

Unfortunately none plays the djembe that comes to our weekly twirling session in Glebe.. I’ve tried but I’m not really up to playing in pubic standards

When I go to confluence it's usually a bunch or random percussionists with an occaisional flute or violin or something, so I'm used to performing to tribal type stuff. However, I prefer to write and practice to more techno and house type stuff. For that I have been adoring the new Blaqk Audio album clled "CexCells." It's like earlier Depeche Mode but darker, sexier, and with the benefits of modern synthesizers.

Since my personal style is heavily ballet influenced, I like to use ballet pieces obviously, but I also work with a lot of emo since it's pretty good story music...even if the story is all the same. For that one of the most fun things I've ever practiced to is "Do You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison" by My Chemical Romance.

Oh yeah...and anything by Scissor Sisters is fabby spinning sounds.

Ive been listening to a lot of Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, many of the songs just flow very well and translate into my spinning.

1) Somewhere over the rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo Ole'

...Hint from one fan to another...just call him Braddah Iz. I heart that man, what a beautiful, beautiful example of humanity gone far too soon. If you continue in the Hawaiian vein, if you can find recordings of traditional hawaiian chants, that is really good stuff to spin to. If you do Samoan fire knife it adds a level of authenticity too, lol.

Here in the past week, I've been trying to run some choreography to 'Tarantula' by Pendulum; it's such an amaaaaazin' song for it!
I actually just made a new 'spinning album' yesterday and I'm rather in love with it. It's just a list of my favourite songs to spin to. Have a looky and feel free to give them a go. I shall try to put some videos soon! xD

David Bowie - Slow Burn (har har)
Depeche Mode - John the Revelator
Rolling Stones - Satisfaction
Muse - Bliss
Scott McKenzie - San Fransisco
Jefferson Airplane - Somebody To Love
Elton John - Tiny Dancer
The Stranglers - No More Heroes
The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Papa Won't Leave You, Henry
REM - Losing My Religion
T. Rex - Metal Guru
Smashing Pumpkins - Ava Adore
Peter Murphy - Cuts You Up
Love & Rockets - So Alive
Pendulum - Tarantula
Siouxsie Sioux - Into A Swan (brand new song = AMAZINGGG)
The Cure - A Forest
Sisters Of Mercy - Temple of Love
Bauhaus - She's In Parties

It seems a lot longer when I type it all out, woah O_O
Sorry, haha.

my recently burned spin mix:

Beck - Devil's Haircut
Bush - Mouth
Cake - The Distance
Deftones - My Own Summer (Shove It)
Disturbed - Down With The Sickness
George Clinton - Bop Gun
John Butler Trio - Pickapart
Marilyn Manson - Beautiful People
Moby - Find My Baby
Morphine - Buena
Offspring - Come Out and Play
Placebo - Pure Morning
Portishead - Numb
Regurgitator - Happiness
Rob Zombie - Dragula (Hot Rod Herman Remix)
Sly and the Family Stone - Play That Funky Music Whiteboy
Ween - Voodoo Lady
Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata

most of them allow me to spin at much the same tempo, which is, I suspect somewhat slower than most, cos my brain just doesn't work all that quickly.

my absolutely fav, so far, was definitely the beethoven. began spinning to it, out on the back patio one night, quite by accident. it was playing, I was spinning and it kinda put me into a bit of a trance; lotsa fun.

I prefer Celtic/folk/pagan music to trance and alike. It has way more melodie and it's often very varied. Omnia is a great band especially the songs 'teutates' and 'taranis' are fabulous.

I also like riverdance music, rock and metal.
Normally I don't use complete songs, but mix them so I can make the music exactly to my liking.

I like loads of stuff by artists such as:

LCD Soundsystem
Cascada
Chicane
Bassnectar
The Crystal Method
Crazy Town
Scooter
The Prodigy
Pendulum

and many others.

Some I just rock out and spin. It mainly depends on my mood.

Hello All.

Sorry to drag this up again, I've searched the music threads.
A while ago we were talking about music and how to find non-copyrighted music for videos and performances. Someone linked to a few sites of pure gold original music that was "free" if you give credit etc.

And I've lost the link after DLing some of their stuff...
So if you know where this was posted or can shove me in the right direction, would appreciate it!!

Thanks

I'm a big fan of dancing/ flinging to stuff by Jesse Cook, my favorite is That's Right. But i will also say, if i'm just at home flingin' around for the fun of it, trying not to whack myself in the head, my top choice for music is always bluegrass, throw on some YMSB, Old Crow Medicine Show and The Infamous Stringdusters!

My current poi/staff dancing favorites are Deepest Blue by Karsh Kale, Mulberry Harbor by Trebbiano and Carte Blanche by Veracocha. My friend & I recently did a staff performance to Galaxy Bounce by the Chemical Bros. Fun! I love Crystal Method for spinning as well.
