Nightwish - Over The Hills And Far Away (best song ever to twirl to)
Nightwish - Wish I had an Angel

I like to twirl to the metal like stuff, but not roaring death metal...Melodic metal with good beats.

Another Nightwish fan *jumps for joy*. Some of their stuff is brilliant to swing to. I learned 3bt weaves to the intro to Ghost Love Score. Melodic metal is so easy to swing to its unreal. That and some Joe Satriani stuff.

Just a Ride by Jem is pretty fitting, or Nasty Girl by Aniya Day if your a girl and spinning with fire or strobe. I tend to spin to Romanticide (Nightwish) no reason why other than its a great song, suitible for spinning or no :P

Alter Ego - Rocker

This is a brilliant piece of electro wieredness. Loads of tempo changes and bizzarre noises. Perfect for spinning to IMO.

the orb, or banco di gaia are cool to play to, i like music that feels like liquid and isn't too spikey.

I've allways gotten along with Reggae, tho not particlurly fast stuff. Good Ole' Bob Marley or even his son Damien have just got a nice flow to the music.

Psy/Goa tracne is a lil to fast for my current level of skills right now, tho those music festival do attract the 'very easily impressed pill heads' great for a quick ego boost

hmm ive only ever done poi to happy hardcore and gabber which it goes great with in my opniion, and also at a house party some of us did poi to manu chau (i think thats the wrong spelling) then aphex twin, which led me to the conclusion that once your really good, and know loads of different moves, then poi can go well with any music as you can express yourselves in many ways (pace, action, movement, fluidity etc) that match the tunes with your poi.
Though with my flags i just love to dance really slowly to classical music with my flags

Promise you won't laugh, now...

My other half is a Morris dancer, who also plays the melodeon for the sides she dances with. Although I am no great fan of the music myself, I do find the jaunty, dotted rhythms and moderate tempos ideal for learning new moves and practicing transitions. In Dulci Jubilo is pretty well the default tune in my head for these occasions.

In the meantime I'm still a beginner and have yet to learn to dance properly, let alone come up with any sequences; but when I do, I'll possibly be looking at these three tracks to start with:

Jacques Loussier - J.S. Bach : Prelude No.2
Pizzicato 5 - Concerto
William Orbit - Cavalleria Rusticana

Hey. Just thought I'd input. I really like salsa latina type music to spin to as I totally dance and spin all together and enjoy it so much more.

An unusual choice is the Shakira ft Wyclef Jean- Hips Don't Lie. I totally love it.

Hello, fellow newbie!

I've just been reading this thread for inspiration as I've struggled to find music I can spin well to. There's lots of tunes I'm going to try now.

So far, I've been spinning to: Arpeggiator - Fugazi
Enter, Space Capsule - Gerling
Better Do Better - Hard-Fi
Too Human - The Rakes.

I'm definitely going to have a go with Bloc Party later.

Masters Of The Universe, by Juno Reactor, is excellent. But I spin to anything with a beat thats slow enough to be possible and fast enough to keep the poi in the air and the staff moving...
