How do you get 9 beats without turning, can't figure it out for the life of me.

ok--now i really do have the btb weave! really! i do! i like going from that into a reverse split-time flower. also have managed a ceiling-plane ttn, which is really fun and quite possibly my new favorite move (of the moment ). aside from all variations of flowers

Hi spherculist, I do a 7 beat weave then add a wrap round my wrists on each side, I've now almost perfected an 11 beat weave with the same method only 2 wraps.
Are you around in Brighton over Easter? Fancy meeting up for a session on the beach?

Pikey phil- you don't need those wraps in there for a nine...
butterfly hyperloops. finally. figure 8 thing in floor plane, and a kind of cross between this and the weave one, and a five beat version. various variations on microthrow weaves where you throw around other body parts than the wrist (such as the leg), and some where you pretty much only hold the poi string for half of any circle, and you are always throwing one or the other but not both or neither, but the poi follow the same path as they would for whatever move it is you want to do without holding on. propellor to throw to opposite propellor on the other wrist and pass the other poi to the other hand and do the figure 8 change direction transition at the same time. (once. and it'll never work again, i betcha) quarter time iso atom weave type thing. quarter time iso 3bt weave with the middle of the strings always touching just enough to make them not straight. and some other quarter time iso stuff. quarter time seems easier than split time some how...

wowzer! hyperloops, microthrow weaves, 9 and 11 beats... you have conquered physics, people. all the moves you guys have recently figured out are pretty incredible! the technical stuff is brilliant to watch, though tough to figure out exactly what's going on with each poi. I'm bathing in my own sense of achievement at the moment as well - today has seen me crack isolations, figure out how to add them comfortably into a five-beat fountain, and sort out some flowers as well. big day huh? remember back when you learnt those moves? not so bad for someone who only picked the daft spinny things up three and a half weeks ago... love and newbie admiration to all of you, Ben

I've not learnt alot of poi stuff lately... :-( noone to swap ideas with. :-( but... just got an isolated butterfly airwrap last couple days which is good. :-) antispin buzzsaw turns. some other buzzsaw plane turning & swapping randomness. Staff: Multiple Hand rolls, Arm Roll, Shoulder Rolls, Horizontal (from Helicopter), Head to Shoulder rolls, Halo Roll, Pivot, SNES, globetrotter, horizontal SNES, a btb elbow pass, and..... f15htails! forwards & backwards both hands. Most of these are not 100%, but can get them at least most of the time. enough to say I can do em.

4 new whip catches, just in time for falmouth.
1st is a one handed bf throw into whip catch 2nd is a 3bt arm propellor into whip catch 3rd is a pretty simple ttn whip catch 4th is difficult to explain its pretty similar to 3 but with the throw poi going in the other direction, sort of like a weave whip catch but from a bf.
Also learnt something that im gonna call 'weird hyperloop throw, back of hand contact catch and reverse' move. The name kind of gives it away.
A few other little bits, nice smooth contact moves, like a lubbly way of getting out of a hyperloop throw with a back hand catch.

Also got the reverse 5-beat, only I learned the foward 5-beat like forever ago. In the foward your hand flops. In the reverse you need to fling. I can flop a lot, I can't fling very well. Also got that nifty spiral handcuff wrap with the glowsticks. Very fun, easy, and looks so cool. I'll have a pic up soon.

Double butterfly elbow wraps on the same elbow, requires some very clean planes. Various mid-weave/mid-BF weave stalls, still need to work on getting them with my left hand though.

YEY!
Finally had a major breakthru today, got the 5 beat weave.
I've also found a way to move smoothly into a horizontal pirouette by doing a corkscrew, horizontal pirouette, back into a corkscrew and then the windmill, been trying to work that one out for a while!

Plus please someone enlighten me- what does TTN stand for?
Is there some key somewhere that helps newbies like me understand all this initial talk?!!
