This movie is brilliant!
12/10!
It has better get Best Foreign Film at the Oscars. It deserves Best Picture, but that award would never go to a foreign film.
It is absolutely smeggin' AWESOME!

Yeah, Spitfire and I both really liked it.
My favourite part- when the 2 women (I can't remember any names- we watched it a while ago) were sword fighting in the forest. I love the use of colour in that scene- it was beautiful.

Mmm I love Hero too its my favoruite foreign film, it even trumps Ring which I love (the orrigional)
I like how the story unfolds, you hear Nameless' version which has some spectacular fight scenes in it, my favoruite being Moon (Zhang Zhi Zhi) and Falling Snows battle in the forrest, not only because of the colours but it has alot of emotion attached to it.
Then half way through the story changes and you hear the Emporers version, which includes more fight scenes and more story its a very clever way to tell the story, and it also means you can put in alot of fight scenes and not miss out on plot. Then my favourite scene is the part where they fight in the scroll room, between Snow, Moon and Broken Sword
That film is so lush

I think this thread should have a spoiler notice on it now...
But yeah absolutely top film, one of my mates still has my dvd *grrr-ness* and I actually found it more enjoyable than 'house of flying daggers'. I think although there are many similarities in cinematic style, 'Hero' was simply more enjoyable for me to watch as it kept a reasonable pace without the plot suffering at all.

I think the atmosphere must be a lot thicker in China. It's the only explanation I can come up with for all that airwalking they do over there.

If you are a fan of Asian Cinema (which I'm not clued up in by any means) check out "Zatoichi". It's a Japanese film and again, I think it's brilliant. There is some awesome music in it. They create beats out of the farmers in their fields.

Hero had a plot? I must have missed it the first two times. pretty fight scenes though. this is like the "gonzo" of kung-fu movies ("gonzo" in the porn sense, not sure if that term's used overseas actually). i like it well enough, but it's definitely the most over-hyped excuse for excessive wirework i've ever seen in a movie (and that's including shaolin soccer). as a benefit, thinking about this movie usually makes me want to watch crouching tiger again. *shrug*
