MELBOURNE JUGGLING CONVENTION 2007
VENUE: Collingwood College, Melbourne, Australia
DATE: Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd September

The venue is booked, so put the dates in your diary!
We will have access to 2 gyms with showers, a dance studio, footie oval, and theatre! Close transport links to the city, backpacker accomodation is walking distance from the venue, and a scout group is providing some on-site catering!

What more would you want?!?

The convention will host numerous workshops in many disciplines throughout the weekend, and include a Renegade Show (open-stage) on Friday night, a professional Public Show in a 250-seat theatre on Saturday night, and the ever-popular Juggling Olympics on Sunday afternoon.

If you buy your ticket before 1st August, all three days and two shows will cost you just $50.00AU. The price will go up after 1st August to $80.00AU.
You can purchase tickets through the website, to be launched very soon:

http://juggling-club.com/mjc

Keep your eye on it for information about location, accomodation, performers and workshops

Please feel free to e-mail any questions/requests to this post, or you can send them in private to mjcinfo@gmail.com

Hope to see you there!!!

Christian

Yes, yes and yes!!

If its anything like the Sydney Juggling Convention, any level of skill is welcome. And if I know Christian (and I do) newbies will be made incredibly welcome.

There will probably be some people there with intimidating levels of skill. However they should all be very friendly and willing to teach.

I have brought people along to conventions who have never juggled before and want to learn, and as well as people who want to learn something really specific, like unicycling.

You are also welcome if, like me, you don't juggle but do other skills instead. I am renown at the Newtown Juggling club for my "not juggling".

In other words, come along!!

Whole heartedly agree Rozi, I went to SJC barely being able to hold down a 3-ball pattern... I still enjoyed myself and picked up heaps of new skills... (Still can't get mill's mess *Curses and mutters to self*)
And if some of the people that came to SJC come to MJC there'll be plenty of poi, staff and various other toys and skills going around...
You won't regret coming...

I'm glad that there seems to be some (lots!) of interest in the Melb convention - nice one! I'm working hard to make it an everything-goes convention including ALL abilities in ALL areas... so please do come along! It's going to be lots of fun, just like the SJC.

Update: Several high-quality acts have been secured for the public show and people are signing up to the workshop list already - including Poi, Diabolo, Staff, and of course, juggling.

Keep posting your thoughts here - any requests/questions welcome.

Christian.

That'd probably be one question for Christian... It'd depend on the Venue and their policy on fire...

Unfortunately, Fire is not an option at the MJC this year - it's the first convention of it's kind in Melbourne so money is very limited, and insurance is incredibly expensive.
The plan is to start small and slowly grow the convention, introducing more and more elements -hopefully next year fire twirling can be an option. this year, however, it's just not worth doubling the ticket cost for just that one event...
